Watched it and thought James flopped, every article I have read also agreed that James flopped on the last foul.

Maybe some earlier calls on him, but that last one Curry fouled James twice. He slapped his wrist and then cut him off. Curry got himself fouled out. When playing with 5 fouls you have to play cautiously and he made a super aggressive move to try to steal way back at that side of the court.

I am a Celtics fan, so who wins between the two teams playing doesn't really matter to me. But watching the game, the Cavaliers were getting away with murder.

Stith was before my time, he was drafted in 2000 and I started the following fall. I met Suggs a few times while I was at school, he was a friend of a neighbor of a friend.
I remember thinking he was incredible when I was there, but faded in my mind after KJ arrived, since KJ was so dynamic. If I recall correctly, Suggs held the single season rushing TD record but I also seem to recall that most of those were short yardage, pound-it-over-the-line-type runs (correct me if I'm wrong, I genuinely don't remember).
I always thought KJ was a more talented runner, as well as RMFW, but that Suggs was the perfect fit for how our offense wanted to operate. Wilson had the stats, and Evans was my favorite although admittedly not the best.
A fairly officiated playoffs would have seen Draymond Green suspended for kicking a guy in the nuts.

This is the direct impact of the NBA basically banning the hand-check. They've taken all the physicality away from the defenders in the effort to promote more scoring and points.

It doesn't bother me that much either, but I also think a lot of the aggressiveness is direct instruction from Jurgen. Before the Paraguay game, he came out and said that they were going to be aggressive, attack and that that he wasn't going to accept the underdog mentality.
I've been critical of him (in this thread, no less), but I do think he's found something that works with this team right now. For better or worse, they're playing with lots of emotion and heart. And I think Klinsmann has figured out that's the best way to motivate this team. Hell, Jurgen's even played cheerleader the last two games, waving his arms to try and pump up the crowd.
It's not ideal that we'll have some guys out due to card accumulation, but I'm okay with it since it got us this far.

But yeah, its nice to see, because I'm certainly confident in our hopes in goal beyond Howard. Seems like the US always has someone of legit quality at keeper, which is certainly a good situation to have.
Similarly, they could go with a 5-3-2 that free flows into a 4-4-2 on the counterattack. Pushes them centrally on defence and allows either Fabian or Yedlin to get forward depending on what side of the field the ball is on when counterattacking.
I used to feel that way about Jones as well, but I gave up. Fortunately his play has progressed enough that I am mentally fine dealing with his transgressions, because I used to hate seeing that guy in the lineup because I was sure we'd be down to 10 men eventually. But now he fills a role that makes it worth the risk, in my mind.
It wouldn't really be an issue now except that Beckerman is probably his backup. Bleh. Although I don't think Jones over Beckerman is the final piece needed to beat Argentina or anything.
Side note: Guzan has been masterful in this tournament if you ask me and he's not getting a lot of mention. Just wanted to tip my hat there.
Yeah, the team certainly has a bunch of talent right now, but I am worried about the complete lack of discipline. The guys that are hurting us with these cards really should know better. JJones, I understand that he's a wrecking ball, but he HAS to understand he just won the mind game over Valencia, and back off and move to the next one. We're lucky that stunt didn't come back to bite us harder than it did.
I am certainly looking forward to what the team has to offer in the future. Their attacking game has been a lot better the last few games than I've seen in a long while. Which is good, and will only help the popularity of the game here in the US. I never really did like the whole 'defend defend defend, beat you with the counterattack' mindset we had, even despite the relative success it provided.

I honestly don't think it's nearly as upsetting as you do, but either way, what's done is done.
Jermaine Jones, for his entire career, has been a wrecking ball and you ALWAYS run that risk when you field him. He's there to be an enforcer and sometimes he loses his cool.
As for the rest of the team (Yedlin and Wood included, not as much Bedoya but speaking in a general sense) we're pretty young. And there's a big chip on this team's shoulder right now. They do stupid things a lot right now but when you look at it, we're set up to be a pretty dang good squad in the future.
As I said, our discipline is shit. Against Paraguay, we come out in the second half after Jurgen stresses we need to stay disciplined, and we're immediately playing with 10 men after Yedlin picks up 2 yellows in the first what, 90 seconds of the second half? And then it was a Yellow Card party after that, with seemingly half the team picking up one. Then, we come out against Ecuador, punk them throughout the first half, force Valencia into his second yellow, putting us up a man with the lead, and what happens... Jones makes contact with the face, causing an immediate red and disqualification for the remainder of the tournament. Then Wood gets carded, earning a suspension for the next game. Then Bedoya does the same. All because we allow ourselves to get suckered into committing stupid shit by a team we have on the ropes.
I'm not sure I've seen a team get so thoroughly outclassed mentally over the course of a tournament. There was no reason for any of this shit, in both games the US already had the upperhand, and would have done far, far more damage to the opponent by simply walking away, and instead... well, now we're likely playing Argentina down 3 starters a game after already playing without one.

Suggs did not have break away speed, so most of his scores were short yardage. If you gave him 2 seconds with the ball, one to look for a keyhole sized opening, and one to cut to it, he was going to get at least 3 yards. Every damn time. We would get a 1 point lead, get the ball, hand it to Suggs 10 times to go 55 yards, and score a TD 10 minutes of game time later. Even though everybody knew he was getting the ball, they could not stop him. KJ had more long runs, and more ypc because of that, and was fun to watch, but was not sure thing to get a first down in 3 carries like Suggs.
