That sounds like a recipe for a 2007 season in college football all over again, and I'm totally up for that kind of madness again.

My wife went to Richmond, and I am very much looking forward to that game in 2021 as a family event. Besides, she can hang their national championship over my head, so it would be nice to get a head to head win.

But I generally know people connected to most of the FCS schools in Virginia, so there's usually someone to have a friendly rivalry with. Don't really know anyone connected to an FCS school outside of Virginia, so it just becomes a pile of "who cares".

I mean, remember when Austin Peay State was added to the schedule. You could hear the collective voice of Hokie Nation all saying "Who?" at the same time.

Fuente doesn't have the luxury of time. Whit isn't going to sit idly by and wait out a slow rebuild, especially as the fans and boosters get antsy. At the very least if we don't make the ACC title game within 4 or 5 years, I could see the program looking to move in another direction.

Apathy was already setting in at the end of the Beamer era. There is hype now, but a season or two of 6 win football under Fuente and things could devolve fast. He needs to take what we have and make it a winning program. That's what he was brought in to do.

You are not, obviously...you are a message board poster.

Thanks for shattering my dreams...jackass.

You play to win the game. Every game. Anything else is a gimmick not even worth consideration by a serious head coach. That's what made those comments about "exhibition games" or whatever so disappointing and evident that Beamers time had come to an end.

As Fuente, I keep proving that what I do wins. I do what i did at Memphis but in a larger scale, with a bigger platform. If I do that I don't need to worry about inking shocking wins, because my system will give me those. I keep on a defensive genius to give me even better chances at the w's. Won some conference championships, bowl games, maybe get into playoffs.

Then I decide if I want to stay or go to a blue blood.

TCU would be a pretty cool one off game/home and home to have. Allows Fuente to go up against an old mentor and gives us a game against a good program we've never played before. Plus it's hard to get more unique than the Hokies vs. the Horned Frogs.

A&M for sure. College station is nice. A hour and a way from. H-Town a.k.a. Houston feels like you're in the middle of nowhere though.Dedicated fans. Similar colors.Great traditions. Nice fans. Some of the Aggies that I know want to play us. They also want to See us beat the vols in week 2.

Never understood hazing that involved physical or mental abuse. I can't wrap my head around why people put up with this crap. Glad the university did what they had to do.

Good questions. I would try to exceed expectations. I play as conservative of a game as possible against LU, then completely flip the script to mind-fuck the Vols in Bristol to give them one of the most sore and embarrassing losses known to that region of the country. I mutilate ND. I am audacious. Or conservative. If you're the opposition, you'll NEVER know. I focus on each game AND circle the calendar as WIN. I keep that bowl streak alive. Except, as the new HC, I make that bowl streak my bitch.

We're going to pay somebody, why not an in-state school?

That's fair I suppose. I haven't looked at any numbers but I assume we also would pay an in-state program less just because of travel expenses.

As far as trash talking and bragging rights go they're a level below us (one could argue multiple levels if you consider P5/G5, too). Bragging over your P5 team beating an FCS team in football is like bragging about a college graduate beating a grade schooler on a math test.

Please note I'm generally against FCS games in general. I don't see the benefit of them at all, aside from "Shit, we screwed up our scheduling and can't fill this hole in time." Again, you're supposed to win and win big, so if you do no one cares. Dare drop a game to an FCS team though and you're ridiculed (honestly, as you should be).

Well, not to nitpick but isn't Clemson required by law to play SCAR and another in-state school? So South Carolina State could go away but would have to be replaced by another FCS school. Idk what the penalty for not following said law would be or what opposition there would be to removing this law but it is South Carolina so literally nothing would surprise me.

But, sadly, the author of the letter sent it out with a grammatical error and that more so reflects badly on the university. We have the personnel & technology that should preclude this.
