This is accurate. They are pushing Tennessee artists on a Tennessee stage. They are nailing the tourism angle.

Metallica seems to only enjoy doing California sports venues. I don't think they will ever come to Lane or VT related event, sadly. We'd have to play west coast somewhere to have a chance.

The thing is, it could be almost anyone. I'd say pick from Hill, JRob, Outlaw, Clarke, and Blackshear. If I had to pick three new guys I'd agree with you: Outlaw, Hill, Robinson. But Clarke could be dominant and Blackshear is very underrated, he could be a huge factor next year. However I would still expect LeDay and Allen to be the leaders of this team.

I believe it depends upon the type of network that is launched by the ACC in partnership with ESPN. The limited literature, i.e. newspaper articles from main stream media and the occasional free article from Sports Business Daily indicate that a traditional, dedicated sports cable channel will not be supported by market place as it currently stands. So far, ESPN has lost close to 10 million subscribers over the last four years, which amounts to almost $60 - $90 million in revenue that they are losing each month from cord cutters. Then with the growing popularity of watching sports on the smartphone, tablet, desktop, what have you, and well, IMHO, the launch window for the ACC to get the ACCN on cable is pretty much over. Now Swofford, ESPN and even Dave Boren (President of Oklahoma University) have hinted that the sports channel of the future, another nebulous term, is a multi-media platform channel. I keep hearing people make references to WWE on the blogs, but those are conjectures by bloggers. By the way, I don't even know what WWE is except that it is a pro wrestling??? I'm getting old. Anyhow, IMHO, there probably is a good possibility that a future ACC Network will get announced in 1 or 2 years. It will probably be a combination of streaming and OTA via ESPN. Someone wrote on a blog post that the SEC and BIG each took 4 - 5 years to setup their networks and secure their rights. We are, I believe, at either year 3 or year 4 since the GOR was announced. These things do take time. I also believe that it is critical that the ACC keep their conference revenues within the ballpark of those two conferences. Matching either of them is out of the question as things stand now.

Like any war, money, lots and lots of money, matter in finishing as the winner/survivor. I believe the author of this thread chose the title very well, the ACC is in an arms race, but with the Big 12. Whichever of these two conferences gets a semi-profitable/profitable dedicated sports network up and running will survive to become part of the P4. Pac-12, due to geography, will not be raided nor due any of those schools really want to leave that conference. The BIG and SEC are printing money so they aren't going to lose member schools. That just leaves the ACC and Big 12.

I could address several points you brought up, but I've accepted that that would be fruitless based on how this has gone so far (largely due to our own biases towards polar opposite theories of morality). I'll state simply that the fundamental problem with the moral relativism you espouse is that it presupposes that societies cannot behave immorally, since morality apparently depends entirely on popular will (as evidenced by that perplexing paragraph on slavery). This would seem to make the very concept of morality moot, to the point that a reasonable person would find it nonsensical. Essentially, if morals are that fluid, they are not morals at all. I think this is the reason you keep trying to raise points which have little to nothing to with morality (such as the gay marriage issue). Now, this isn't necessarily your fault, since a great portion of our society is happy to use words incorrectly (as evidenced by your gay marriage example, since gay marriage is amoral). With that, I think we should wrap this up. Our philosophies differ to the point of defining words differently, making debating the concept of morality nearly impossible, and surely no one other than us is enjoying this.

You're assuming in that scenario that a Colombia team with the top spot in the group already locked up would play their top players. Costa Rica against the Colombia B team has a good shot.

Well, Alabama's only lost last year was to Ole Miss. The same Ole Miss that lost to Memphis, who was coached by Justin Fuente. Fuente now coaches Virginia Tech. Therefore, VT automatically inherits the title of 2015 national champion.

Add that to the 2014 national championship, for being the only team to defeat Ohio State, and we're looking at a potential 3 peat next year!

Personally I'm strongly in the East side camp, regardless of proximity to field because I abhor sitting at football games. The several times I've had west seats, they've had incredible views and I was miserable the whole time because football games are high energy, loud affairs for me, and being forced to sit ruins the experience. West-siders also don't typically yell when we're on defense. Expect to sit literally the whole time, and to feel bad about jumping up to celebrate a big play.

I also recognize that I have weirdly strong feelings on this matter, so if those don't apply to you, West all day.
Also, I've had 4A-4D every year, and the view is still great and probably better for detailed football watching as you see the whole field.
