I mean, it could be... Way to early to know if this will trigger change, but there is definitely a culture in college football that condones sexual assault. FSU has had 20 rape claims in 9 years. wood clearly seems like our best option at striker given his domestic form and recent play for USMNT. i wouldn't mind seeing someone else (chandler maybe?) play left back so johnson could be pushed up field. and honestly it wouldn't really bother me if pulisic started

Sorry...this is what actually caused my response. Looking at what Tennessee did in the 90's, and stating very few schools have had a decade like that...well...it just isn't true. Especially in light of the fact that a team in that exact decade was truly dominant, including dominance over Tennessee.
That's borderline LOLUVA delusion to me.

Agreed it is gread to see. Although, I've known his HS Head Coach for 20 years, I don't think he puts up with much of that anyways.

Have the youth programs really taken successful strides? A lot of people will point to the U-20 World Cup run, which is one of the high points in the US youth program. That was a promising sign. But then it was followed up by a failure to qualify for the Olympics this year.
People point to guys like Yedlin, Miazga, Zelalem & Pulisic - the only one I think you could make an argument for that Klinsmann has helped his career is Yedlin. He was taken to the World Cup when everyone thought it was too early, so I'll give Jurgen that one. But the rest of those guys have been seen as top talents for years now. It's not like Klinsmann found diamonds in the rough with those guys.
If people want to give credit to Klinsmann for playing young guys, that's fine by me. And if you want to give him credit for more aggressively pursuing dual-nationals, by all means do so. But it's not like either of those are new in the US system.
Really, the sea change in youth development was taking place before Klinsmann arrived - MLS academies were in place before his hire and the highest levels of the sport have gotten more exposure than ever in the past decade. I think those 2 things are far more important than anything Jurgen has done.
As far as tangible success, he's been no more successful than those who came before him. He made it out of a tough group in the World Cup - other US teams have done that too. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Jurgen is setting us back. But I also don't buy the narrative that he's the one pushing us forward.

Call me old but I love how he didn't celebrate a single touchdown other than slapping the ball and finding a ref to hand it to. I also love how in a couple of those plays when he's running free to the end zone he actually turns on another gear and speeds to the touchdown instead of relaxing.
That kind of stuff stands out to me. Glad to have him aboard!

no one said they were "the team" of the 90's, just that the 90's is when they had their most recent string of success. They made it two national championship games, winning one; they won three conference championships and won 9+ games in every season but one in which they won 8. That's a successful decade by most standards.
It's similar to saying VT's high point was the 2000-2010, not that they were THE team of the decade (that's probably florida or USC) but it was still a successful decade for VT football
I mean I see your point but...that wasn't really where I was trying to go. I was looking for a natural parallel to their color scheme and found a bunch of stuff that would match. Can you imagine how the uniforms would look if they were patterned after a hornet? That would be pretty sweet. Plus, Cowboys are dumb, go Redskins.

I think so, too. We don't need, and probably can't support, a 100k+ seat stadium, but I would think that it'd be possible for us to do a little reseating...like getting stadium seats instead of benches, especially in the west stands for the alums.
Actually I hadn't thought about this, but it's a nascent point. Paterno was viewed almost as if he had a halo around his head, and that perception was shattered when the PSU scenario hit. Briles, I think, was probably viewed as a magical football coach but I can't say I ever heard anyone say anything about his high moral character.
