1) Trevor Thompson left because Buzz didn't want him here, not because OSU was a better program.
2) ACC Basketball > Big 10 Basketball and it's not even close
3) Ohio State won one more game than Virginia Tech last year but they had the #2 overall pick in the draft on their roster and we had freshman and bunch of castoffs from other programs (EDIT: My bad, D'Angelo Russell got drafted in 2015. The thrust of the point remains the same, we had the same exact amount of success this year as Ohio State in a more difficult conference with less heralded recruits).
4) Buzz Williams has historically produced better results compared to Thad Matta if you normalize for the talent they were given.
5) How dare they accuse VT of shady dealings when we haven't had any major recruiting violations in any sport since Frank Beamer was hired and the school that's accusing us has a rampant history of cheating in the past
6) Marquette's rich alumni were worried that Buzz Williams was the wrong coach for Marquette because he doesn't cheat.
7) We have one of the best AD/Presidents in the country and you hire douchebags like Gordon Gee. (EDIT: This is actually a non sequitur but I like taking cheap shots at Gordon Gee so I put it in).

That chart is for the old priority point system (being used for 2016 seat selection). That was the process in place (with minor tweaks for the last few decades). You can throw it away for 2017 & beyond. The new priority point system can be found here. Scroll down to where you see "PRIORITY POINTS PROGRAM" below the Benefit Chart. Going forward, your giving level aka Hokie Club level is independent from your priority point ranking. See my post below for the explanation of your points in the new system.

I think it will be pretty packed. With all the excitement over a new coach, new offense, and new QB, I'm sure that will really keep people's interest. I mean we just had 40,000+ for a spring game. I seem to remember the opener against Bill and Mary a few years ago being pretty packed just because of so many new players on offense (Brewer, Ford, Phillips, Bucky, etc.)

Hate to break it to you, but there have been many, many waves during real games. It has been one of my pet peeves for a long time, but I've stayed pretty quiet about it since it feels a bit "get off my lawn"-ish to complain. I've even had to take jokes from surrounding fans when I stay seated as it comes around the stadium- why I don't join in? Do I not like fun? etc. I'm ok with the wave during halftime or even late 4th quarter of a blowout win, but for a number of years there, it was popping up in every single game- usually mid 3rd quarter, and sometimes while we were on offense. I find that pretty embarrassing. I don't think it happened in 2015 (or at the very least it didn't happen every game), so I've been hoping that trend will continue in the future. I guess I'm not fun.

I'm struggling to figure out how to 'value' points... Here's the chart I'm referencing.

Questions:

  • The 'Base Club Points' at the top - are those how many points I need to qualify for a given ranking? Meaning am I a 'Lifetime Hokie' when I accumulate 2,000 points, or do I get 2,000 points when I register as a 'Lifetime Hokie'? If it's the later, how do I register at a certain level?
  • So let's say I give $100/year for 5 years - I would get 3 points/year for my $100 donation, 6 points for $500 of cumulative giving, and 5 points for 5 years of membership (1 point for each year). Let's say on top of that, I buy one ticket to a bowl game every year through the Hokie Club, and get 3 points for each ticket - I know have a total of 41 points. Do I understand correctly?
  • NOW let's say I want to buy season tickets in 2021 and have 41 points. The more points you have, the earlier in the process you get to chose your seats. Does the price per ticket vary by points, or seat you select (ie, are seats in section 27, row A the same cost/seat regardless of how many points you have, or does cost vary based on your standing in Hokie Club)?

I understand that this system is subject change every three years(?) - but for the sake of discussion, let's assume it remains unchanged.

It's a long haul from Hawai'i to Blacksburg and not much of a natural fit, but there are some big and fast boys in the islands. Since Hawai'i has been talking about forever of developing itself into a Pacific technology and medical center, there might be some form of connection. We also need a game with the UH Warriors every year. I'd rather play in the rain there than at ECU. (cough, cough)

Fireman covered the benefits of the base level, but I want to add onto the priority points explanation. As noted, you would accumulate 10 points for the cumulative $500 in donations. But you'd also get another 20 points for 4 years of consecutive HC membership (5 pts per year starting with your 2nd year), and another 1 point per neutral site game (assuming you buy the tickets thru Tech). So in 5 years you'd have 35 points. To put that in context, a new Hokie Club member at that point in time would need to donate $1800 to catch up to your priority ranking.

Agreed, I feared that the Heat would have a tough time with him and they have. I will say this , I don't see any player on the Raptors that can guard Dragic if he continues to play like the way he has (foul trouble plagued him last night.) Lowry is a good defender, but Dragic is too big and physical for him and knows his tricks from when they played together in Houston.

Toronto's only way of stopping him is to get him into foul trouble like they last night, and consequently the Heat's only way of stopping Valanciunas is to get him as foul trouble as well, which they have yet to do.

Lol, yeah we have a scholarship fund deficit approaching and we need to raise money in order to cover the full COA, yet we somehow have plenty of money lying around to pay kids off. Plus, I'm sure OSU has never paid an athlete under the table for their commitment. I just love how the first excuse fans of pretty much any school have when a big recruit spurns them is "they must have been paid off." Like many a Buckeye I have encountered, it's hard for them to accept the reality that Ohio is not the center of the universe for everyone.
