I'm still trying to figure out why Texas A&M can't hold on to a quarterback.
Jefferson-Pilot FTW
I mostly agree with the message but it just wasn't the right time or place to say that. It made him look even more fickle than the kids he was talking about and as a professional it's hardly ever a good idea to take to social media to air out your frustrations, especially about people that you're supposed to be building a close relationship with. The bad thing was that he then doubled down and continued to bash recruits and others responding to him by calling them soft and saying there's a lot of "tough typers" out there tonight. Like, dude, you're the one that just went on a twitter rant bashing 16/17 yr old kids. How tough are you? C'mon Man.
When is the national championship game? That's the only time Hokie fans should be concerned with.
Agreed that you might not want them on your team, but you do not subtweet a 17 year old making one of the biggest decisions of their life.
Just heard this on Mike & Mike a few minutes ago... Irony...
College is smartly avoiding the NFL on Sunday January 1. I am pleased that the Hawaii Bowl is still being held Christmas Eve.
After what Moorehead tweeted, do you honestly think he deserves their respect? I always love when older generations criticize younger generations for disrespect without realizing it goes both ways. If I was a recruit and saw a coach shitting on another recruit like Moorehead did I'd back out of my commitment too.
I have no idea what my new years plans are but I doubt I'll watch the late game that day. I didn't last year. Oh well *shrug emoji*
Sure, makes plenty of sense. The stars of tomorrow always start somewhere and all of those guys are big time contributors to the major league club this season.
Benintendi is down there now, their first round pick a season ago. That'd be an autograph you want to get now! That kid is either going to get popped for steroids or he'll be in the big show within another season.

Hopeful we land both Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Markell Johnson!!!

The ACC Network is...

Shiplap!!
He's not wrong, but with his job it's probably a better idea not to tweet stuff like that.
The argument can be made for both sides. NSD is not until February, nobody is forcing these kids to commit a year in advance. I know some coaches will use pressure tactics to get players to commit early and those coaches should understand they set themselves up to get burned by a decommitment.
From the coaches side, they invest a bunch of time in a player, get the commitment and start adjusting other offers and scouting accordingly only to have the player back out, it definitely screws up their plans, but college athletics is not about the coaches, its about the "student athletes".
Instituting a recruiting freeze period for a player decommitting only essentially moves up the signing day by the length of the penalty. An early signing period would put more of the onus on the players while reducing the risk of the shady noncommittable offer getting pulled from underneath them and let the coaches balance the numbers sooner. This more than anything seems like the answer, make both sides put pen to paper rather than both shake on it with their fingers crossed behind their backs.
I love watching aussie rules football. Probably because the majority of the hits happen when someone is in the air...
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I back Moorehead.
The kids who are firing back I think talks more to their character and lack of respect. I get the feeling a lot of them think they run the show and need to be pampered.
If i were a coach I wouldn't want them on my team any way.
How can the salary be $13,000? At a pay rate of $7.25 an hour, it only covers 45 weeks of work. I know the league is not a full year, but this seems borderline illegal. The article mentions they get housing accommodations and $40 per diem for meals, does the Dept of Labor count this toward compensation? I know the MLB got in hot water a few years ago for their Single A players essentially making less than the minimum wage once all of the mandatory hours were totaled up. Knowing this, I am surprised how many players leave early, seems like you would have it better in college (with the new stipends) than in the D-League.
I see everyone's point in those tweets. I mean AMO could have been talking about the one decomit but we don't know the circumstances. Why he decommitted and if AMO was referencing him in his tweet. I know there have been threads on how to fix the problem of committing and decomitting. It may just be something that is part of college football. Perhaps the NCAA allows the kids to sign a LOI at any point and once you sign that you are locked in for a year (or you sit the first year if you change) or something. I don't know.
But I think this also shows a larger problem with society as a whole as people are basing decisions on 140 characters or less. To me words matter, the only thing you have in life is your word. If you tell a team you are committed then you are committed. I understand circumstances change things, but that should be the exception not he rule. Not hey Alabama just offered so I'm decomitting. But more of, my mom just got cancer so I'm decomitting to play somewhere closer to home type of thing is understandable. If my son were being looked at by a bunch of teams I don't think I'd let him commit until at least the fall of his senior year. I would make damn sure that when he tells a coach he's going to play for them he sticks to it.
Again, I don't know the circumstances behind the Vegas guy decommitting but if it's just because he some new offers or something that's pretty weak.
I was just reading about this on Reddit. The gifs of Sumlin's reaction when he walks into the office this morning had me laughing so hard.
HGTV and Food Network both have apps for live streaming. You do need cable login information though.

I get kind of tired of fans that sit behind a computer screen and trash recruits for decommiting and flipping and stuff and then have the audacity to call the recruit selfish. These kids aren't making decisions for you, or your team, or your teams coach. They're making career choices, life choices, family choices, all those things we did ever how long ago. They have to do what's best for themselves not Aaron Moorehead. Most of these recruits don't come from perfect families or househoulds. When a kid decommits fans judge, and fans criticize, and fans attack. Like in this instance, who knows, or gives a shit, why Martell decommited. But people will accuse Martell for being selfish or soft or whatever and I think that's gross. These kids should be selfish. This is a career choice that could have lifelong implications. Who are we to judge? We are too consumed with the lives of 17 and 18 year olds. College football is a beautiful game for so many reasons, but I think at the root of it all, it's awesome that guys from not so favorable backgrounds get a chance to have the spotlight on them and soak up benefits, then have the chance to do what they love for 3 or 4 years. Quit trying to take that away and shit on the lives of kids. I believe we're better than that.
*Disclaimer, I don't accuse any one person or fan base of this. This is a generalized tirade. I love you all.*
