No nice way of making it right but D League schedule starts beginning of October with preseason. It ends before the end of April, even with their version of the playoffs. That is only a seven month schedule or about a max of 30 weeks. Makes their pay about $10.83 an hour and it varies in terms of compensation regarding per diem and housing. Still pretty atrocious.

If we are going to come down on kids who decommit, we have to come down equally hard on programs that overrecruit and send out non-commitable offers.

Way more so. The program and coaches will be just fine if they have to go to their backup option for a recruiting slot. The kid who gets an offer pulled now has to rethink his future.

That Mike Weber play was horrible in overtime... he looked like an absolute duster. I can't believe they didn't play Nate Schmidt over him..

I sense a TKP drinking game in our future

early signing period comes up after recruiting hooplah: 1 sip
emma gif: 2 sips
"Just trust in (insert coach/AD name here)": finish your drink
etc etc etc

which reminds me. Anyone else remember the tailgate fever drinking game lists?

EDIT: apparently I have the memory of a goldfish. Exhibit A

time to bring up the NCAA needs to have an "early commitment period"

The thing is, in the college recruiting process, the recruits do run the show. It's the one time in a football player's life where they are the final arbiter of where they want to play football. They have to be courted by prospective programs that are interested. It is very much a sales pitch.

We've been over the pros and cons of a verbal commitment before. The current iteration of college football recruiting, with its practice of overrecruiting and non-commitable offers incentivizes giving an early verbal commitment to ensure your spot at the table.

Also, so far as the NCAA is concerned, a verbal commitment does not exist. The LOI is the only yardstick the NCAA uses to measure commitments. You can make any argument that you want about "being true to your word," but that cuts both ways. If we are going to come down on kids who decommit, we have to come down equally hard on programs that overrecruit and send out non-commitable offers.

And I can guarantee you that if I were a head coach, I'd think twice about if I wanted Aaron Moorehead on my staff after that little outburst. You are the paid professional. Act like it in all aspects of your job.

With the question marks in the secondary this year we need to get to the QB as fast and often as possible. Mihota may be ok against the run he just doesn't have the burst like the other guys you mention.
