They've also said this about eating meat in China. It's ridiculous that they're trying to force the athletes to not eat meat overseas although it may be what they know best in their diet, and can really harm their performance if their diets aren't adequate/normal. Sad that Duane got the hammer because he just ate burgers and steaks from Baja California and had to fight to get it overturned. Hope it doesn't happen to any other players, the fact that the NFL isn't being lenient about this just shows that they don't care as much about the players as people as they should. But glad to see Duane rightfully able to play again this season

I think you mean absurd alley oop by Matt Galloway!

Rankings are pure BS at this point in the game. We haven't done anything to prove we are good, and we're ranked above UVA so I'd say the rankings are as accurate as they can be.

Will we lose donors? Sure. But I hope we gain new ones to replace them.

You sound a little back and forth. Not a criticism. It's just that at multiple points you sound off that the current new course is absolute fail-proof in all facets, but then you sound not completely convinced that there will be new investors.

If they are including the LBs in "up front" then yes I agree, but strictly DE and DT I am not seeing the same cause for concern. I think Wiles and Foster will find 8 guys that can be competitive in the two deep. The DBs are now a concern with injuries and potential suspensions.

Clemson ended the 2006 football season on a 1-4 slide, plunging from No. 10 in the polls to unranked. Media pegged the Tigers for third place in the ACC's Atlantic Division the following year and questioned Coach Tommy Bowden's job security.

Not what you would call an ideal time to unveil what Clemson labeled a "seat equity plan." But scholarship costs were mounting, and the Tigers were the only football program among the top 20 in attendance that didn't require larger annual gifts from those occupying the best seats.

And for any initial irritation this may cause, understand that Tech's research shows that only about half of its football season-ticket holders will have to increase their annual fund gift to retain their current seat location(s).

Babcock believes the changes, which also affect seating for men's basketball, will generate a minimum of $3 million to $4 million annually. Not coincidentally, that approximates the current shortfall between Tech's scholarship fundraising of $9.8 million and costs of $14 million.

Clemson's model, which debuted in 2008, required annual per-seat gifts ranging from $700 to $70 β€” since increased to $750-$120. Approximately 50,000 of Memorial Stadium's 81,500 seats are included.

Most important: Donations increased 40 percent the first year, from $15 million to $21 million, and have since approached $25 million. Sure, there was resistance, and some opted out, but with upgraded facilities and a coaching transition to Dabo Swinney, the Tigers have returned to top-10 prominence

There is a lot of great info in this. If I didn't need to head to bed for my final in the morning at 8 I would point out some things I saw and then found on Clemson IPTAY site.

He apparently hates it in LA. He'll likely be back on the East coast soon, but he won't be working for VT.

keep fighting the good fight sir...i'm giving you as many turkey legs as i can!

i understand change is hard to accept and the university is asking for more money at a time that seems inconvenient for many WITHOUT seeing any results in the (football) field.

i'm not gonna tell a person how to spend their money but i've already accepted this as the path that sets us straight. will we lose donors? sure. but i hope we gain new ones to replace them. these are exciting times with a progressive-minded AD and i'm happy with Babcock's moves.

if you really must know what sold me, it's that the model we were using was outdated and we're upgrading to one that's effectively used by schools that are doing better than us. that's all you had to tell me...

i'm tired of taking a backseat to the teams which have blown past...we were on a roll after the championship game and then we stagnated. the money gained from this will help right the ship to cover for the expenses needed to compete with the big boys...

Yes, I'm actually surprised they didn't put more of a premium on parking- it is MUCH harder to get good parking than the new guide seems to suggest. The lot I've tailgated in the last several years is marked as a Zone C lot, but my buddies who are mid-level Silver Hokies have not had high enough priority to get a pass in the lot since 2012.
