That was an amazing error
Thanks
Littlepage has neglected and mismanaged the football program so much that it will take a long time to recover, plus there lacks a rabid football culture like earlier commenters said. People treat the games like the Kentucky Derby and not like...well, football.
I think we'll see 7 receivers this year (at least).
Ford and Phillips will start. I'm counting Hodges as a WR. I expect Bradshaw, Deablo, Carrol, and Wilson to get some snaps.
As solid of a coaching record as Mendenhall has, I think he will prove to be a terrible hire to rebuild their program. From an image perspective, he's a great fit. He fits the overly-pretentious and goody two-shoes persona that UVa likes (just listen to his interview when he was hired). He's going to talk ad nauseum about academic excellence. He's going to come off as the smartest guy in the room who is trying to reinvent the wheel in football. But as far as being able to actually 'fix' the football program, I have serious doubts. UVa flat out needs to recruit better talent and develop it if they want to be competitive. Keep in mind Mendenhall has never lived or ever really recruited on the East coast at all. He also doesn't have the Mormon angle to his benefit anymore (BYU is the dream school of every Mormon football player in the country). He might as well have beamed in from outer space coming here. I think his quirkiness and esoteric nature isn't going to make a ton of inroads in VA from a recruiting perspective. I have no doubt he can develop players, but the competition level in the ACC is going to be a lot different than what he faced regularly at BYU.
Went to Indy last week for Game 3, sat two rows behind the Raptors bench. Had a good time with all my fellow Canadians taking that building over!

I take Quin at his word.
The Military Bowl isn't a long drive and they can get a good deal on tickets through Groupon.
Edit:

Welp, me and the wife just relocated from Michigan to Chapel Hill for her to complete her Masters in Accounting... smdh. Knew I should have pushed her towards Tech
A Leicester win Sunday at Old Trafford wins the title. As a United fan, I'm horrified. We all know how this ends. Giant headlines LEICESTER WINS TITLE AT THEATRE OF DREAMS.
Oh well. Good for them.
"Our state"

Damn my ass is numb sitting here waiting for something. Almost a year!
Great write-up, thanks as usual! I honestly forgot about Jaylen Bradshaw, even though 20th ranked out of VA when recruited. Sounds like he's made some great headway recently. How much on field action do you think we'll see from him this year?
I would be shocked if we don't find out before Episode 5.
Ah, the good ol' "Walking Dead Model" of a highly anticipated season.
the offensive line did a good job of picking up the occasional stunt

3 seconds difference in pace of play seems fairly minor to me.
Think of it as giving the defense three fewer seconds to adjust before every snap. That last second adjustment that the LB makes? It doesn't happen now. Neither does that part where the d-lineman tries to pull the o-line to jump the gun.
Here's the PDF of the amended NOA:

What a lot of people are missing (and is rightly pointed out by marcb2 above) is that there are 5 "Level I" (i.e. most severe) allegations that UNC is facing. The fact that basketball and football are not named specifically is irrelevant. The University is facing severe accusations of fundamental, systemic violations across sports, culminating in a lack of institutional control. Women's basketball is named specifically in Allegations 1 and 4 (in part), while more general problems are listed in Allegations 2-5 (inclusive of the problem related to WBB in 4). Allegation 5 is perhaps the most damning.
When individuals brought concerns to the attention of then leaders
both on campus and within athletics, those leaders had multiple opportunities to
investigate the AFRI/AFAM course anomalies and student-athletes' exposure to
those courses. However, the institution failed to exert control when it did not
recognize and sufficiently investigate these practices.
The NCAA enforcement staff believes a hearing panel of the NCAA Division I
Committee on Infractions could determine that Allegation No. 5 is a severe
breach of conduct (Level I) because the violations seriously undermine or threaten
the integrity of the NCAA Collegiate Model and lack of control violations are
presumed Level I. [NCAA Bylaws 19.9.1 and 19.1.1-(a) (2015-16)]
wait, so are you saying that Fuente is going to give us
*puts on shades*
110%?
And I still think his flipping off the WVU fans was totally appropriate, camera or no camera.
A ticket? They should just give him the deed to the property because he owns that place.
Huh?
3 seconds difference in pace of play seems fairly minor to me.
Think of it as playing 10% faster, or having 10% more plays to work with. If you get 60 offensive snaps per game, now you get 66.
247 sent out one of those free bolts last night with an interesting update on Crosby. First off it did mention that Crosby is working pretty hard to recruit others to UT. In particular it mentioned Williams and Capehart. He said he had talked to Williams a lot about playing together on the D-block at UT.
However after this he did say that he is still keeping his recruiting open. As soon as he committed he got a call from Alabama and several others. He even said that he plans on taking a few more OV's including at least one more to the good guys.
All in all it sounds mostly negative with Crosby and I would say Williams as well but I guess you never know. Here's to UT having a devastatingly disappointing season.
Them's some fancy words for "they stopped trying to beat us in football."

In his post game interview Fuente indicated that a lot of the focus on RB in the game was looking at the unknowns, rather than working with what was implied to be the 1's.
