And to conclude the article:

Michael Vick pleaded guilty in 2007 and served almost two years in prison for his role in a dogfighting ring before returning to the NFL.

It's a shame ESPN allows people to write this shit without putting their name on it. Take some responsibility. Not surprising, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing.

The Season Six Finale is officially the second worst rated episode on Rotten Tomatoes. Alas, it got very good ratings. And that's all that matters to the execs. We will continue to get shitty unnecessary gimmicks while they waste great source material. Wiki link here.

Think this (SPOILER ALERT)

The OL zones to the RB run. The back side OT veer releases away from the Zone run. The DE crashes on the zone run. If he comes inside, the QB keeps. If the DE stays soft or contains back side, the QB hands off on an inside zone. I believe Fuente uses this scheme more when he sees that the DE likes to crash and he believes that the QB can do some damage. Other times, he will just zone it and scoop through the C gap with that tackle.

We'll get into much more situational work, third down, field zones, red zone, those sorts of things.

8 Days in to spring practice and they're starting situational work already. I feel like in Lefty's first year at this point, they were still installing fundamentals and teaching his new language. I seem to remember the word "vanilla" being tossed around quite often.

The behind the scenes gameday experience auction sounds cool but I'm not sure I could watch a game with Whit Babcock. I sometimes say things mid-game without thinking of repercussions who those words may hurt and I'm just not sure that's who I'd want to hear those things. Maybe the Liberty game would be okay...

Coach Dominant Back Avg number of Receivers
Beamer 35% 3
Fuente 29% 4.14
Briles 32% 4.43
Swinney 39% 3.86
Kelly 42% 3
Helfrich 38% 3.67
Harbaugh 53% 2.5
Shaw 49% 2.25

If you look back to 2009 the numbers of receivers in a season with at least 20 catches (roughly 2 catches a game, less than that and I dont know if its fair to really count them), Fuente does use on average a good amount of receivers. This number could be inflated slightly because they do consider there Y a receiver at times, but really he was more of a Tight End, its kind of like having Bucky Hodges (who I didnt count for us, but probably should have) lining up wide. Anyone they considered a true "Tight End" I excluded, I also excluded any instances where a Running Back was a primary receiver, just to see if how many receivers they were using from TCU through Memphis.

With that in mind, there were some seasons where they really only used 2 receivers, but it makes sense why they are trying to add numbers, the offenses they ran at TCU and Memphis used a good amount of receivers, more than we are used to, I dont really know what that tells us? Im excited?

I also looked at the top rusher's carries as a percent of all carries to understand RB rotation. Fuente rotated backs more, but I think a lot of that came down to the fact that they just didnt have a dominant back to use regularly. Also Paxton Lynch starting pulling more carries, same reason our top back carry percentage was not much higher, Tyrod stole carries, Logan Thomas WAS our lead back...

But with increased tempo has come simplified verbiage, shortened play-calls to allow the Hokies to work at a near breakneck pace.
"We'll have a five minute period or something like that and we'll get 12, 18 plays done. That's unbelievable. Usually it would take 15 minutes with Coach Loeffler...Everything was longer terminology where now everything is kind of one word, two words which helps."

This has honestly been the biggest take away IMO of this new coaching staff. Just as an amateur watching VT football these last three years Coach Loeffler was trying to teach a new language to college kids with a lot of formation changes pre-snap. As it showed we weren't messing with anyones mind more it was on our guys. These are 17-22 year old young men, as a VTCC Alum who once trained freshmen... keep it short and keep it simple. Can't wait for the season to start!
