Stroman in college: "You want me to play offense again? Not the backfield. As far away as possible. Please."
It is common for universities (VT included) to rename buildings or colleges in honor of large donors or supporters. I would be less impressed if it was named after a rich guy or politician elected official. In this case the majority of the donation was from an anonymous person requesting the college be named after someone other than himself.
I am also glad (for the sake of the community guidelines and honoring the man's memory) that it wasn't UVA that did this, or the OPs joke might be getting more play at Mr. Scalia's expense.
I agree, great decision for one of our local universities, money or not.
"Justice Scalia's name evokes the very strengths of our school: civil liberties, law and economics, and constitutional law," said Law School Dean Henry N. Butler. "His career embodies our law school's motto of learn, challenge, lead. As a professor and jurist, he challenged those around him to be rigorous, intellectually honest, and consistent in their arguments."
I could tell you why Avengers is mediocre.
What do you mean by reliable? Accurate? Reasonable? Good at predicting box office?
Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have an agenda - it simply compiles critical reviews and arrives at an average score, for a big picture view. It's the individual critics who matter in this.
When you look at, say, the B vs S breakdown you'll find critics who liked it and critics who don't. Maybe you agree with the critics who do. Figure out if you agree with why they liked it. Read some of the top critics who DIDN'T like it and see if you understand why.
As for me, I rate a film based on how well its made - script, direction, production values - and whether or not I like it, which is more of a gut thing. I watch a lot of films, both good and mediocre (I tend to stay way from the truly bad ones). I can tell you why Avengers is very good and B vs S is mediocre. I know which directors and screenwriters I trust, and those who haven't earned it yet.
Any Twitter experts here? I got more Intel that some other SEC fans, esp. Ugga is voting some for their conference buddies as they evidently don't want to even lose a meaningless poll to an ACC town! I'm not on Twitter as I can't express myself with limited characters. LOL
But tweet to our "Friendly" foes in conference and outside the ACC like Ohio State maybe. They had a great time in Blacksburg and they have a zillion fans! Any and all extra help may put us over the top! Oxford by looking at their posts unfortunately know what we know and are asking everyone to do the same!
Has the University sites tweeted out anything to vote? I sent messages to the Facebook groups that have huge numbers but to no avail! A few groups I'm a member in, I've got them voting like Va Tech Fighting Gobblers, Hokie Pride n The Real HokieNation. Only small private groups, but they add up, esp if you have crazies like me voting constantly! Yep, not much of a life! LOL
Maybe if more message the big groups they will finally post something? Give it a try Hokie friends! TIA!
Go Hokies!
Thank you! Great idea!
For the above post, they are using a simple poll app that doesn't control number of times. They put out that msg to fake us out. Once we caught on, we saw it adding the votes and the gap narrowed real quick. Then they took the poll numbers display off as another deterrent, which is stupid as that was part of the fun, knowing the score! .
A lot of dedicated Hokies voted like crazy and the rest is history. We can't let up now. Just a couple more days left! Be Hokie Strong!!!!
VOTE. vote, vote, vote, vote,..........................pls!
Anyone count how many times they voted before they got locked out into the Cooling Off Period? LOL
Go Hokies!
Just a reminder. From the community guidelines:

Meh, not impressed with the decision. Money Talks
Lotta respect for George mason and this only builds it. Good for them. If I ever get a PhD I'm heading there

# | Chris Durkin Ready to "Start Knocking Heads" as Hokies Enter Second Week of Spring Practice I'm pretty sure we had a football team that finished either 2nd or 3rd? Vick anyone? 1999?
"he was my first and only choice" hire.
That sounds good in the press conference, but I'm skeptical. Whit's track record tells me that he probably keeps a list five-deep of candidates for every position in the department, just in case.
(Well, Brooks is highly successful, and at Whit's alma mater, so he probably was head and shoulders above any other candidate. And given the timing, Whit could have been negotiating terms in February, and had Brooks' verbal agreement in hand before firing Wolff.)
That sure beats when people suggest him as a goal line blocking back. As good as Settle was on defense in high school, he was the opposite as a blocker. SJ's offense was the OL would snap the ball to Stroman and then turn around and watch him run for his life.
I wish there was a "why" to this story.
No offense to original OP, but I pretty much disagree with every single point you mentioned vehemently -- except about Wonder Woman's costume -- but quite literally everything else is the polar opposite to me.
EDIT: Ok, and that I think Affleck as Batsy was a good choice; I just disliked how they potrayed Batman and don't think it was the fault of bad casting.
They started giving me pictures that were illegible, so I pressed the speaker typed the numbers I heard and kept voting. Lets Go....
That was pretty funny, nobody was any more surprised than he was that he caught that punt cleanly. I think shocked is maybe more accurate.
Tim Settle is right. He should have been a kick returner. A huge load to bring down.
As I posted in the first thread.......
Wow that was great. I love this kind of content.
-First off this made me a little nostalgic for Frank. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm on the CJF train 100% with no regrets but I still kind of miss the guy. Also he's looking healthier which is great to see.
-Second off Travon is jacked. I had heard he had put on some weight but dang.
-Lastly I love Isaiah's mentality challenging the D-Block and DBU. I love all of the competition taking place this Spring.
I don't care who you are, that's a great show. ^
It sounded like Durkin must've de-cleated someone. Cornelsen and the players went crazy.

The Eiffel 65 remix at the end is straight fire.
April 23rd is also one of a Wahoo's traditional days of not caring to go to a football stadium to see their school play football. The date isn't all that well known, as people often confuse it for any of the days from Jan 1st to April 22nd, and April 24th to Dec 31st.
Screen name game is strong with this one

Slightly OT:
On-field football at UVA? That's a change from past years.
