I've been trying to put this into words exactly what you said ever since this post started but was unable to do so without sounding as logical as you did, thank you sir. But to add on, Buzz seems to model himself after Coach Jerry Wainwright. When he was at Richmond, Wainwright ended every day of their summer basketball camp by talking to the campers. He never talked about basketball, he always talked about life and hard work, very much like Buzz does. If Buzz leaves now, I agree, it damages his brand more than anything.
He's a great coach, and credit to him because he can look at his team and figure out how he can have success with this group.
The backhanded compliment game is strong with this one.
Or Pitino. Or Bennett. Or Boeheim.
All coaches who lauded Buzz this year with similar statements.
I'd be shocked if the anonymous coach wasn't Mike Brey.
I see Fran Frascilla is tweeting that Buzz is likely to leave. He states in one of his tweets that Buzz is likely to believe that Tech can never be in the top echelon of ACC. You, sir, are a damn fool.

Sounds pretty similar to what they used to say about beamer, finding those overlooked players and coaching them up well. That works to some degree but you need to get the blue chippers going as well to really reach the top. Good read though.

Buzz will leave at some point. If it's now, he's stupid.
Whit will build VT into a force to be reckoned with in basketball. That is clearly on his agenda, evidenced by what he did to get Buzz here. When Buzz leaves, Whit will go out and make another kickass coaching hire who will continue the climb.
But if Buzz leaves now, it's a public acknowledgement that everything he preaches is crap. Do I expect him to stay at VT in perpetuity? No. But when you talk as much as he does about service, honor, respect and finishing what you start, you don't bolt after two years of a rebuild. He came here to do a job, and he's about 60% of the way through doing it.
This isn't to say that every coach who moves jobs after two years is stupid. But Buzz does not market himself as a typical basketball coach. His brand is loyalty and decency. He's the one pushing that image, so if he breaks it, that's on him.
Either way, we're fine. We have both a president of the university and an athletic director whose vision for VT I trust implicitly. I just hope Buzz follows through on his word, because I think it will be Buzz's brand that suffers from a jump after two years way more severely than our basketball program does.
Just watched a cool feature on NBCSN called Premier League Download they talked about Crystal Palace. They go through a teams history, players, coaches (managers??), unique things about that team for Crystal Palace it's a bald eagle and cheerleaders. Very cool hour to learn about an English Football Club.
As I was walking into the high school this morning, I could see how torn up the roof is from them tearing it open. Sounds like there are also 4 to 6 classrooms that have serious water damage.
Blacksburg can't get a break...
I know they run the "Princeton offense"... except, they just call it our offense.
7 hour response time, not sure it's worth it. There was a hose length joke in there also but I passed up on it.

It all depends who wins on our part of the bracket/who has the home game/etc. I don't think anyone will know till probably Thursday morning.
First time that both the men's and the women's team has made the post season in the same season since 2006-2007!

Some app on wife's phone reported a major lightning strike 4 miles away from us last night around that time and that would definitely be in the proximity of BMS.
