GMU would sign up for that type of series yesterday, and given our upward trajectory plus G'town sliding a bit that series makes a lot of sense now too. The only hang-up I could see from G'town is that they might reasonably expect a home court disadvantage in DC. But hey, money talks...

Seriously, the one problem that NCSU has is that they get in their own way too often, but from a support level they are lightyears ahead of where we are. They, much like UVa was before Bennett, are one very good hire away from being a perennial Top 10 team.
I'll give you Miami and FSU being relatively similar to us (though, we are still desperately trying to play catch-up facility-wise) but don't think for a second we're comparable to NCSU in basketball.
You've stumbled into something, amid the powdered sugar and candy sprinkles... Perhaps the answer to the entire question lies in Carol Lee... A fruit-filled confection that is neither "Pie" nor "Cake" yet is fully compatible with both worlds... The perfect symbiotic balance may explain the weight gain and the popularity...

But buses can be more inconvenient, only come every half hour, and don't go to Cassell. My post was more of a criticism of the parking situation and the off-campus housing location/Blacksburg area urban planning.
Some people probably like the fish pie. I'd like to try it - Scandinavian I'd guess. I know some people liked the stone helmets. Thai fish cakes are actually one of my favorite "cakes", along with crab "cakes", if you want to claim either as cakes, even though they are patty's. Cheese cake is my favorite cake, even though it is actually made like a pie. Adaptability means flexibility. Not everyone has to like every pie, but there is a perfect pie for everyone.
Joe, you and the TKP staff are the best Hokie fans we as a community could hope to have.

I don't see Buzz ever being the HC at UNC or Duke or Syracuse.
I don't want to seem presumptuous enough to say that Miami, NCSU and FSU are true lateral-moves, but there isn't a lot of advantage at any of those three schools that VT doesn't have. NCSU has a nice arena and a good recruiting base. Miami has a good recruiting base but a distant arena. FSU has the FSU brand. But all three have flaws.
In guessing where Buzz would be a good fit, I think of p5 schools only, of football schools that have that gritty personality, of places that could sway him with money or security (good work on identifying how secure he is at VT). It would have to be a school with a significant upgrade to recruiting brand/history than VT. That's not a huge list.
Okie St, OU, Texas, aTm, LSU, Florida, Arizona, Illinois, MichSt, Michigan, Wisky, Indiana, Louisville.......maybes: Iowa St, Iowa, UGA, Bama, Arkansas, TCU, Ariz St.
A lot of those schools won't be in the market anytime soon (Texas) or probably have internal options (Mich St).

# | Buzz Williams Leads His "Get Better Group" to Help Build Culture, Character There is an article circulating in which it cites the reason for the national anthem lesson to be that the team disrespected the anthem. Whoever reported that and those circulating the article need to clean up their reporting. Buzz did a similar thing at the beginning of last year, and I expect him to do it at the beginning of every year. Nobody disrespected the anthem during his tenure in Blacksburg, it is just something he does. I think it didn't get recognition earlier because who cares about a team that sucks and this is also peak college basketball time.

# | Virginia Tech to Face Princeton in 2016 National Invitation Tournament Creighton has a 18,000 seat arena, and the team is the main sports attraction in Omaha outside of the Olympic Swimming trials and the CWS. BYU also has a huge fanbase and a gym to match it. Those are huge stages to play the NIT. I know you're not criticizing Alabama playing on the road, but I just like to point out to everyone how power 5 doesn't really matter when you talk about the SEC. Outside of Kentucky, there's usually only one or two other quality teams. They have the same number of bids to the NCAAs as the A-10. in 2014 the A-10 had 6 and the SEC had 3. The best conferences are the ACC, Big12, B1G, and PAC-12. The SEC is on the next tier with the Big East, AAC, and A-10. They just get more notoriety because they're more recognizable.

They wouldn't be surprised if nearly all of their players who are contributors that aren't seniors declare for the draft (Meeks, Jackson, Hicks.)

Yeah, I like NCSU as well. In football too. They have good fans, good facilities, solid brand recognition, good geography. But they never win anything, it's perplexing.
But the question is if you were Buzz, would you bounce to NCSU? I would say probably not. Maybe that Little Brother Syndrome is just too strong in their DNA. And I'm not sure NCSU has the $$$ to back a truck up like Okie St, UGA or Ohio St could.
