The potential candidates will surely be screened for proper tackling form
They do in a court of law.
They get a prosecuting attorney.
This is complaining that the athletes get support at a non law court.
Who the heck knows what the rules are there. If what you say is the case, then their beef is with the state not providing counsel, not with the defendants or the athletic department that may provide counsel.
Get the accuser a state's attorney or send the cases too a real court.
Among others. The guys on the field have to be conservative with it just because of how quickly the game moves. However, it always seems like the replay booth takes the field crew's flag as gospel when the whole point of replay is to allow the field crew to err on the side of caution and let the replay booth balance things out. Too often, the replay booth was equally conservative, and guys were ejected for perfectly clean hits.
See Hokie in the Wire below. They wanted to err on the side of caution, realized they overdid it and now they want to make sure a kid does something that actually warrants an ejection before they, y'know, eject him.
That's pretty much why Ludwig was listed as a punter last year and will *probably* punt this year.
My problem is not that the defendant has representation, my problem is that they are supported by the resources of the athletic department and it seems in UT's case, the broader university. UT appears to be a particularly egregious case where the institution went to great lengths to offer support to accused athletes. This is wrong because it becomes the victim fighting against the university to have their complaints fairly heard.
So no, it's not unfair because the defendant has representation, it's unfair because they are benefitting from the resources of the university in a way victims are not.
Roanoke checking in again.
9:30am.
Measured 8 inches but with obvious compaction. I did not snow board.
Snowing heavily medium sized flakes no wind.
Edit: that's about when I wake up the first time eshiben.
I received my MBA from the Northern VA program back in 1983. It started out in a building out by Dulles Airport, then moved to a Fairfax location off of Route 50. It was a damn good program...they flew most of the professors back & forth from Blacksburg each day.
You just don't want give Shane any credit at all.
I agree with you. I just want them to get it right, and since we already invest over three hours to watch a game, and far more to actually attend the game, a few more minutes in the lounger or in the stadium shouldn't appreciably impact us fans. I do admit that long replays can impact the flow of the game, but again, I just want them to get it right.
I wasn't even a punter in HS, and I had no problem hitting the rafters of the former (?) Rector Field House, which I'm assuming is the current Beamer Barn. It's not quite as impressive as Dave Kingman hitting a HR off the roof of the Astrodome, but I got a kick out of it (literally).
I like the rule and the direction of the changes. It just happens to turn into a catastrophe when we have an ACC officiating crew doing the work.
A friend of mine is the Dir. of football ops at Furman and this is the case. They have a lot of responsibility and the workload can be tremendous at times.
The problem isn't that athletes get any legal counsel, it's that they get legal counsel well beyond what a typical student could afford. I'm not saying athletes don't deserve any kind of attorney, but the article stated they got the benefit of a top quality attorney. I doubt the victims have the resources to hire the same.
So I agree, the athletes deserve the ability to defend themselves, but victims deserve the equal ability to have their complaints heard.

oh yeah GIRL POWER....
I don't think he deserves any credit for the player committing to Georgia or any blame for him flipping from Virginia Tech.
Disagree. I'd rather you just follow the law than have to sue you for damages or suffer the consequences of your idea of "liberty". This, however, is based upon my understanding of the reasons for wearing the belt in the first place. Driving is a heavily regulated privilege from start to finish and if wearing your seatbelt can keep you in the car and possibly more likely to be in control of your vehicle in a bad situation, then what's your beef with the law?
I'm not trying to start an argument here, just have never understood the opposition to what seems to me, from what I've read, to be a reasonable "common sense" requirement.
Her job is anything that needs to be done. Making sure everything is smoothly running for games and practices and recruiting visits.
Yea someone tweeted out the workouts were canceled today. I'll try and find it.
Found it:

If Hannibal the Cannibal was recruiting me to VT, I might have to step back and consider other offers. Not saying Shibest is Hannibal, by no means.
Seriously, I know what you mean, and you're probably spot on. Hey, I just hope he gets a chance to do more punting at UGA than he would have at VT, if you know what I mean.
Hell, with our new, dynamic offense-to-be, I hope the only punter we need is Jerrod Evans doing pooch punts out of the shotgun from mid-field to pin an opponent back near their goal line.
The ACC recognizes both as official championships. The NCAA does not (as there is no team dual format any of the coaches can agree on)
That was changed before the 2014 season. Since then, an overturn on review eliminates everything.
The university is closed today, so I believe they cannot hold any athletic events (that probably includes the 5:30 AM workouts that were supposed to start today).
If you watched her interview I'm not wholly convinced SHE knows what her job entails. She said something like whatever I can do to help and whatever is asked of me. I feel like it is like an administrative secretary a la Iron Man's Pepper Potts.

The "Beamer Barn" is the indoor practice facility and is the tallest in the country. It's not Rector. Hitting its roof (86 feet at its apex) is quite an achievement.
