I thought they were allowed to overturn the ejection but the penalty always still stood. So the 15 yds stays but the refs reviewed to see whether to enforce the ejection or not. Though I very rarely saw them not eject a guy when it was called even when it was obvious it wasn't an intentional hit.

So maybe since Joey Slye isn't going to share PK with anyone, maybe Santamaria or VanSickle might try punting.

any word if those will be affected by the snow? I know they will do it in the beamer barn, but asking people to get to the barn in weather like this would be questionable.

I understand that, but the NCAA does not award a trophy for the Duel meet National Champion so I am curious if the ACC does. For example, last year VT won the dual meet title, but UVA won the tournament. Did VT get an ACC wrestling championship trophy?

I am having a hard time finding the answer online. Wiki only lists the tournament champions and I didn't find anything on the ACC's site.

I love hearing how our head coaches are here because of Whit and the type of guy he is and then hearing the assistant coaches and support staff saying they are here because of their respect for the coaches they work for. Buzz's guys are here because they love Buzz and what he is about in building the basketball culture. Most all of the interviews with the football coaches included some form of "I'm here because of Coach Fuente". To me, this speaks to the leadership qualities of Coach Fuente and Coach Buzz and when you have folks that are bought into their leader, great things are going to happen!

If it's anything like high school wrestling, there are three types of championships:

  1. Duels - You're the best at preparing for wrestling one team per night over a season.
  2. Team Tournament - You're the best at slogging through a bracket of teams over a few days.
  3. Individual Tournament - You (a specific wrestler) are the best at your weight class at slogging through wrestling the bracket of every other wrestler at your weight class.

So does the ACC recognize 2 team champions for wrestling? Dual Meet and tournament champion? That seems a bit strange to me since there is no 'dual meet' national champion. Congrats none the less!

I am really excited about the overall direction VT is heading. That is not to say that it was heading the wrong way, but sometimes you need to reboot and take a look at where you want to be in the future. I think with all the recent hires, the university is heading for an exciting future. Just take a look at the B-ball team and you see it may take time but it's in a better place than it was 2 years ago. Great article by the way.

Are you saying that Drew Harris is going to be the starting running back this year?

BullCity,
ONLY addressing:

these players got the benefit of an expensive attorney courtesy of the athletic department

I am not in favor of policies that discourage the prosecution of sexual offenders. That being said, I have no issues with the players getting the benefit of legal counsel. Many have preached on this board that the players deserve more than a scholarship, housing, and food. I believe legal counsel is among the benefits of the scholarship athlete, and I don't take issue with it. That's just like saying rich people shouldn't be allowed to have expensive lawyers. It's capitalism with all the rights and privileges.
