good point - this thread is a repeat from TSL when whammy ward left.
Leg for Boondock Saints, albeit - clean, reference.
I prefer the Boondock Saints reference over the Back to the Future reference....
Sounds like a lot of LOLUVA fans that I know. Must be the orange and blue causing idiotfanitosis. I think a congressional hearing to quarantine and possibly ban said institutions may be in order.

# | Hokies Point to Encouraging Early Enrollees on an Otherwise Dreary National Signing Day There is a major difference in recruiting ratings today than there was 5-10 years ago when we were winning 10 games a year with 2-3 star recruits. In this day and age, it is nearly impossible for recruits to slide under the radar with how accessible highlight tapes have become. A reason we could win with those 2 and 3 star guys is because not enough schools had seen them play. Nowadays, every school sees just about every player in their particular region due to sites like HUDL, and others. So recruits are rated much more accurately than they were in the past. A 2/3 star today is less likely to be successful than a 2/3 star 5-10 years ago.
So is 7-5-7 a Hok-u?
This was the guy I was thinking of. I'm just not confident that Fuente will bring former Hokies in as coaches.
Ah, but my argument was essentially threefold. The money isn't even the biggest factor. We have $310,000 available even before we stop paying basketball coaches, but the pickings are pretty slim when it comes to Torrian-caliber coaches that would be available to us. West is probably our best bet in that category, but I'd like to see us at least try and lure Midget or Sorenson from the NFL ranks. Can't find salary info for either of them, but being only assistant position coaches, I'd imagine 250-300k would be enough to make it financially worthwhile, but some guys do prefer coaching pros vice college. Plus both would be giant question marks in the recruiting department. I just thought we were done with the coach shuffling for a while. Now I'll have to be frantically checking for updates and rumors again.
FWIW this is the last year I believe of SG's payouts this Spring on the anniversary, and I believe JJ's are minimal compared to them. If the right guy was out there for 300k it is not off the table I think to go get them.
I was kinda surprised that TG wasn't on the VT NSD16 show this morning. Now i know why.

But really. I always love your rants. Kudos
Let us hope that in the future Fuentes offense will torch Gray's secondary in the playoffs in a few years.
Warning! Excessive Anger Rant mode triggered and activated: Well FUCK DAMMIT! I LEAVE FOR ONE FUCKIN WEEK (IN FL IRONICALLY) AND I GOTTA COME BACK TO THIS FUCKIN SHIT!?!? FUCK DAMMIT!!! AND FUCK ANY PERSON THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS! PLEASE BRING MIDGET, VINNY FULLER OR THAT LOREN JOHNSON DUDE!!!
Drawing from his OL experience, I bet he could teach our DBs to jam at the line real good...
Just remember "5-7-5" and you'll be good.
The freshmen are impressive.
And how many of those guys are available and in our price range at this point in the year? Not friggin many.
Compared to other people who do AMAs, Tyrod is extremely well...typed? spoken? I'm not sure. But he really represents Virginia Tech really well. My favorite thing from that entire AMA. When asked if a hot dog is a sandwich....
I've answered this before! A hot dog is not a sandwich. A hot dog is just a hot dog. I understand it's on a bun, but a bun doesn't make it a sandwich. If you go to a restaurant, you have a burgers section and a sandwich section. They don't fall under the same section. So that theory of "a bun makes it a sandwich" is incorrect and false. So, no. A hot dog is not a sandwich. Neither is a hamburger
How tf did I miss this
As a Ravens fan (waits for laughing to die down), sadly he didn't get traded but left in free agency. And because of how his contract was structured there's some doubt if we'll get a comp pick for him
Forget Loren Johnson. Let's just hire Dwight to Coach dbs.
I agree. I have had a gut feeling for a while that we won't see Bud remain the DC long term. I really started feeling this after Galen Scott was brought in and there were so many conflicting reports about his role on the D staff, etc. It just seems he is set up by CJF to be the longer term DC.
"Near" impossible? So you're saying there's a chance....
Great post, some of these folks need to chill out. This program has been in decline (but hanging on) for 3-4 years. If we hired Nick Saban he couldn't have done any better with this years class in the 6 weeks JF had.
The recruiting decline started when Jim Cavanaugh was retired. It will take time to get the state back which is the key. We have been totally irrelevant since he left and 2017 may not be much better.
Hey, I don't mind admitting I'll be happy with fewer avoidable PI penalties moving forward
Not that I'm happy to see us let TG go. But, the face-guarding technique seems pretty universally acclaimed for generating PI calls.

I'm confused, cause if TG took a pay cut as part of Fuente's staff, how can Whit suddenly open his wallet. Maybe he should have opened his wallet to keep TG, unless it was obvious TG wanted out to go back closer to his Florida roots.
