Agree. As another poster stated above--we had a history of producing good CB before TG. That is not to discount what he did, but I don't think this is a sky-is-falling situation. My bigger concern is not DB development but in recruiting where Gray was essentially the only D-staffer who was consistently an effective recruiter (especially with more highly-rated guys).
Also, I suspect (without any insider knowledge) that there was some distance and disagreement with BF over the current scheme and personnel. I don't think this was purely a money play (though it probably didn't hurt).
What is troubling is the timing of the announcement. It reflects poorly on us and on TG as well. It wasn't well handled on either side and makes it look like recruits were deliberately misled.
I think I'm ready to move on from this last 24 hours. Whit has been solid on all of his hires so far so I have faith in him to do it again.
Hopefully the next DB coach will have some relationships already formed and we start getting some talent from a new area. I look at it as an opportunity to breath some new life on the defensive staff and open the door to some new recruitment areas.
not going to air dirty laundry however being from FL and having a few connections down here if what i'm hearing is true and I doubt I will ever find out VT played Gray about as dirty as they could... even after the pay cut.
However.. time to move on and hope that we can find a new db coach with experience and a fiery attitude for sure.

If Gray left because of his pay cut, then yes, I definitely blame Fuente, and I'm disappointed in him. You don't give pay cuts to workers who create results.

I don't mind that he left. Florida is a good opportunity and he just got a pay cut so it makes sense. Best of luck in the future. I loathe the timing, announcing while the ink on LOIs is still wet and kids are locked in. If I was a recruit, especially one in the secondary, I'd be furious right now.
The module is actually all coded and just hasn't been enabled. The blocker has been getting these bottle openers manufactured. I hope it's ready to roll by the beginning of March.

Honestly with a new HC in place I think we should be taking the glass half full approach with all the happenings in the program. Give them a chance and then make judgements off of performance on and off the field within an entire offseason and on the field results.
I assume you mean lateral move by job title. They are worlds ahead of us right now in relevancy and recruiting in particular. Nothing lateral about VT to UF currently.
I coded up my own module that will integrate directly with TKP. TKP will handle the payment processing via Stripe, which takes much less of a cut from each transaction.
