A Blacksburg teen abducted last week remains missing, but her alledged kidnapper has been arrested and charged, police said Saturday afternoon at a news conference.

David Eisenhauer, 18, of Columbia, Md., is being held at Montgomery County jail on one count of abduction in connection with the disappearance of Nichole Madison Lovell, 13, of Blacksburg. She went missing about midnight Jan. 27, and police continue to search for her, said Blacksburg Police Lt. Mike Albert.

Eisenhauer is a freshman at Virginia Tech, Albert said.

This isn't great news.

UPDATE: Eisenhauer is a freshmen member of the Cross Country team at VT. The Corps of Cadets is now assisting local, state and Federal agencies in searching areas around campus.

As a relatively recent applicant to osteopathic medical schools, the way I understood it was that the Harvey W. Peters Research Foundation and Virginia Tech founded the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Peters foundation is the majority owner of the school but the other major owner of the school the Virginia Tech Foundation.

Being from NJ and having basically all of my family attend Rutgers I witnessed (meaning read all the newspaper articles) the merger between the Rutgers and UMDNJ. I always thought it was such a smart idea to merge the two because of the bevy of funding that the school can now attract via medical research. I don't know why our school doesn't decide to straight up own both the DO and the MD schools and try to be like Michigan State in that regard. There are only two schools in the nation right now with both an osteopathic and allopathic school. Those two are: Michigan State and Rowan University in southern NJ.

I always thought that if we want Tech to really reach a new academic echelon we needed to expand. We need our own law school, our own pharmacy school and probably a bunch of other stuff. I have to imagine though that the hold up is probably financially related and politically related as LOLUVA is the flagship school of the state, therefore, will receive the most money.

By NO means is this a concession (I feel really confident we're gonna get a few of these other guys), but I just went and watched Eron Carter's tape.

I've been kind of dismissing him as an oh-by-the-way, a 2-star, a depth player. Not so. Kid has got a Motor. Sound tackler, good lateral speed, instincts and timing impressive. And smart - 3.8GPA, 1470SAT. If he really is 6'2", 230, I'm glad we found a place for him.

Anyone got any intel? I'm sure there's a reason we're his only P5 offer (I think?) - but could he be a real sleeper in this class?

I'd also like to see everybody ease up a little bit on the recruiting. It's not thought provoking. We can nearly script every post on a recruit. At the end of the day, these kids may or may not be difference makers, and nobody knows for sure until we see the results on the field. So, instead of talking about how fast so and so looks in a highlight video, or talking about what restaurant some recruit was seen in, let's at least talk about the recruits intelligently, like how they seem to fit into a system or something similar.

I get zero benefit out of regurgitated stalker information from some pay site. And, for those that do want that much information, go there to get it (the site deserves your money and attention if you're that interested in their information).

I'm done ranting, and I apologize if I've offended the die hard recruiting stalkers. Thanks again Joe and staff for all you do. Let's all continue to think about contributing something to this site that can't be found elsewhere.

I'm confused by this as well. Mostly because speculating recruiting and discussing those such things are what fill TKP most of the offseason.

We weren't going to have a med school without Carilion's investment. This is the way the academic world works now; industry partnerships are actually viewed as a major boon. So there whether you consider it a "full medical school" or not really doesn't detract from the fact that we have an amazing new research institute and we are granting MD diplomas with Virginia Tech's name on them. That's as legit as it gets.

Looks the same to me.
