Maybe have the annual NFL Awards in Hawaii every year the week after the Super Bowl. At this event, announce the Pro Bowl rosters. And let that be the end of it. The problem with the NFL is they don't have the single skills event like the Home Run Derby, Dunk/3 pt Contest, or Shootout like the other major sports have. Just name the rosters and let that be that.

I think this is the key. The best part of MLB all star stuff is the home run derby. The best part of the NHL all star stuff is the skills competition. The best part of the NBA all star stuff is the dunk contest. NFL should hop on and build around that concept if they want to keep viewers. The game lost its luster a long time ago.
They could make changes to it that I think would make it better. Move it to after super bowl, require at least attendance even if you are not playing, move it out of Hawaii so more fans could go, up incentive pay, do rookies and 2nd year players only game. Etc.
Yeah, I've never had any real interest in the Pro Bowl, but I'm finding it even less interesting than usual. Drafting players onto teams? Come on. This just seems patronizing at this point.
I say turn it on its head. The players do not want to risk their bodies for a talent show. So turn the Pro Bowl into something more interesting, maybe invite the best of the best out for a skills challenge. Have corporate donors pledge money for charities of the players' choosing as they try fun challenges in skill and strength competitions. That may sound corny, but if no one's taking hits for no good reason, it could be fun.
They started guarding him way outside after his 6th 3-ball in a row, or something. But, yeah... some of the shots that he was jacking up, I'm gonna let you have that all day. If you hit them, good for you.
Its gotten to the point where they really should just scrap the Pro Bowl. Between not having players in the SB playing, and now entire starting lineups declining to attend, its a shell of its former self.
FWIW, ESPN punditry says we have the most favorable conferences slate in the ACC.
Probably depends on how quickly the guys on offense transition from Lefty's scheme to Fuente's. And linebacker play. Obvs.
It just rubs me the wrong way. I get we aren't an historical power in basketball, but Greenberg had just experienced some measure of success in the 00s.

I've loved the effort this team has given this year especially on the defensive end but the perimeter defense has lacked all season

I kind of wonder where VT would have ranked 20 years ago. Where do we think they'll rank in 10 years? IMO everything points towards a positive projection for VT academics and I hope the university continues to climb that ladder. For as much as we (okay, maybe it's just me) make fun of the SEC for academics they still have a good handful of top rated academic institutions. I think you'll find that just about every conference has some schools near the top, some schools near the bottom and a bunch in the middle. Nothing really surprising about that.

I'm not sure what a zone D would have done in this case, hmmm. I'm sure Buzz had his reasons - likely based on lots of study of L-ville tendencies.
I don't remember where I read it, but I don't think I made it up. A fan posted (either here or somewhere else) that they talked with Pitino and Billy Donovan at a camp or something. Both coaches ticked off a number of reasons it would be very hard to have success at Tech. I think it was right after Greenberg was fired. I took it as less condescending and more as insight into how this job is viewed by the coaching community.
I was at the game last night (great crowd!) and I thought Buzz came in with a great game plan to attack their Bigs early and get them in foul trouble. Combine that with the fact that we killed it at the free throw line and you give yourself a fighters chance against a really strong ACC opponent. The one thing that I could see that seemed to be the demise of the team was that with about 6:00 mins left to play, the defense seemed to have lost their legs. They just couldn't keep up the intensity the entire 40 minutes (at least that's what we saw).

I just think most of the frustration is when he stops and wildly flails a three towards the basket. His three point percentage is horrible bordering on atrocious. He just needs to keep driving to the basket and maybe occasionally dumping to Leday or Bibbs for a three.
