It doesn't matter what the weather is. It doesn't matter what time it is. Nothing matters. Driving in Maryland is an exercise in risk management. I've never seen a more incompetent group of reckless drivers and dangerous vehicular buffoonery than on the highways in Maryland. Maryland Driver is bad and they should feel bad.
I commute from North Bethesda to Herndon and back each day for work. I leave Maryland with Maryland Drivers, and return to Maryland with Maryland drivers via the same route that you describe. I have no words to emphasize the magnitude of the truth to this. I've had Maryland Drivers purposely run me off the road because they have no care for others while driving.
This is a very key stat. Especially since it's mainly been Allen and LeDay, our two best FT shooters, getting to the line the most.

This is why the rankings aren't a very good barometer. If you sign a large class with a bunch of guys at positions of non-need and a mediocre overall average star rating, you can have a higher ranking than a school that signs a smaller class with players at positions of need and a solid average star rating.
Average star rating is far from perfect, but it's a much better indicator. Sort the list by avg star rating rather than ranking and you'll see the same schools in the top 15...year in, year out. Because they're concerned about getting players, not class rankings.
I grew up in NOVA and spent my time commuting from Manassas to Alexandria for school, to Reston for soccer, and to McLean/Langley, Springfield, Fairfax, Arlington, and Mount Vernon to hang out with friends.
Now, I live in PA and travel across the turnpike to hit 70 West to get to 270 to 495 to get back to VA to visit friends and family.

eshiben5 one last one please! I have a flight out of NYC Saturday morning (7am) for Cancun(Woooooo!!), what do you think the chances are there are any flight delays in the area at that time when these things go down?

I agree that the knife cuts both ways. It's just unfortunate to see so late in the process when a kid has been committed for a long time and likely shut down their recruitment for the most part only to be told a few weeks out that they no longer have a spot. But it happens everywhere including at VT despite what most here want to think. It happened with Victor Greene this year with us. He committed to us way back in March but stated that he had not heard from the coaching staff in a while when he de-committed in December. I believe we were also his only offer at the time he de-committed.
Recruiting is just a dirty business on both ends. Players use schools as placeholders all the time, the same way schools use certain players as placeholders until something better comes along. Kareem Felder and Troy Pride both did that with us this year, being committed to us until OSU and ND came came calling then they bolted for the better opportunity. Jawand Blue and JaVonn Harrison are two recent guys that come to mind that had been committed to VT for a long time only to flip out of nowhere on signing day.
It's unfortunate but the kid seems to have a decent offer list so he should be able to land on his feet.
Yeah man Asheville is great! I loved it there. I miss it. I still have friends down there and we try to get back there to visit when we can.
With Bread, milk and eggs you can make pretty much anything, or at least fake it.
There's two ways of going about this, and I don't pretend to understand the SEC mentality. You can keep upgrading and make your football team as jam packed with better recruits which a lot of fans would favor. The second approach, what Frank and hopefully JF do, is treat the recruit as if it were their child. I mean, come on man, if that's your son who was promised a scholarship, courted, and contacted for months or years to the point where they tell all their friends, teammates, teachers, and family that they will be playing for a school, then the school yanks it away because "you're not good enough" how would you feel?
I'm not condemning UT in anyway. I'm just saying I'm not comfortable doing business that way. Same goes for the Hokies. If they pulled this on a recruit I'd be ashamed in how that kid got done dirty. It's not right to treat a teenager like that.

Again this is what happens when the euro goes loko and meteorologists buy into the hype. The numbers game is still a little tricky to forecast. Just last year I saw a storm go from "totes McGotes gonna be 15 inches" to..."oh oops maybe 3" but the fact that the gfs is in board is looking promising. Look for the amounts to taper off a little bit tonight and tomorrow morning. Big boy update will come during TA time

But I also don't want to make more work for the VT compliance people. Reminds me of the Weber compliance person who posted on a Weber message board after a recruit joined the board and a bunch of posters had a conversation with the recruit - to paraphrase "Don't do that; its an NCAA violation and now I have to report it".
Universities do monitor and report tweets - see Jeff Tower's (booster) tweet causing Rutgers to report an NCAA violation.

dayum! I'd be okay with 3' of snow. I'm not expecting any more than 3" though...these things are so hard to predict.
According to him I'm in the 46" area? WAY more than any other prediction, I've been hearing for a little over a foot in my location, not nearly 4 feet! I'll believe this guy when I see the snow on the ground.

I'm kind of running out of words to describe what could be the greatest snowstorm of all time. I told a friend a few days ago that this could be one you tell your grandkids amount. The start time from the gfs and euro are much different. Friday morning vs late Friday afternoon so that has to be nailed down. The end result however is similar. A crippling blizzard potentially with the dc area being the target area. In otherwords...no other region will do better from this storm than our own as of now. An extreme el nino that gave you a 73 degree Christmas eve where santa came in his boxers is about to unleash it's full potential on the area. If it's a bust...it will be historic so history is being made no matter what lol
