I for one think it's better to bring in Junior College guys to fill holes in the roster than either 1)raiding an under performer at another position or 2)bringing in a walk on.
Seems that Fuente and Buzz have nearly identical recruiting styles.
Hopefully, as both programs raise will get more kids out of high school than Junior college, but really, look at how many kids we've brought in from Fork Union. Really, this isn't that new of a phenomenon for Hokie Football

I don't have a great answer to your question, but basically I felt like starting the movie in a sand pit is tired, there was another trench run, how many times have we seen some kind of fighter fly into a building to destroy it from the inside, the entire scene with han was completely predictable. Idk how I would change those, but my point is since I've seen all of that several times, I only really liked the movie and didn't love the movie. I have many questions too and I can't wait for VIII. I'm basically splitting hairs, I know, but I have very high expectations for star wars haha

Exactly! My kids are teenagers and they really couldn't watch the original trilogy all the way through. Partly because they watched in order where as myself, as a young lad, could not.

That's an interesting analogy. I thought all 3 of the Dark Knight movies were good movies. Dark Knight was, in my mind, the best of the 3. It's hard for me to decide which of the other two ranks second. You're literally comparing the first and third in the series which to me are just about dead even for second best from that trilogy.

While I agree it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, I disagree with your assessment and came away from the theatre throroughly entertained and excited to watch it again in the near future. I think the movie was really well done. It had classic JJ humor but it was tastefully done and evenly spaced as not to detract from the story. It paid homage to the originals while getting you up to speed from Return of the Jedi and I think it set everything up really well for the final coming movies in the trilogy. While it was predictable, anyone who has seen sci-fi movies, especially star wars should know what to expect in these movies. It really felt like a reboot of A New Hope but with JJ's own fresh spin. One thing I really like about his movies is they keep moving. There's not really any downtime or lulls in the movie, the action just keeps moving forward (Star Treks come to mind). The real question you have to ask yourself is, what would you change that you think would make it better? I don't really think I could pick anything besides the mysterious return of Boba Fett.
The only real question I had coming away from the movie was who actually is the supreme leader? And who are Rey's parents? These are questions they intentionally left unanswered I'm guessing.
I thought the movie was great. Not Batman Begins great, more Dark Kight Rises great.
It is without question better than the prequels.
On your second point, that's actually the purpose of this thread, for people who have seen the movie to discuss it without giving anything away to others up here who haven't seen it yet

I'm with you ... usually i only go to ESPN for a score or to read how magical it is that Nick Saban can rebuild his offensive line every year with an obscene number of 5 star recruits. you might be doing yourself a disservice in this case, however. well written article describing a perspective not many of us experience. it broadened my horizons FWIW.

So after reading through this a few times and thinking about it I figured out what my moment was. When fans started streaming for the exits against UNC, Frank Beamers last home game, I don't care if it was a 62-0 beating you stay in the stands to honor Frank. Then when the team came back to tie it and people tried to come back in and were turned away it was sweet justice.
He's a good guy. I played intramural softball with him. He has probably read every book in Newman Library. But one thing is for sure, when a guy that tall plays softball pitch it low, he'll pop up every time.

Pitt had a good year going 8-4 and have a good defensive coach. They are a good team. Duke was a 7 win team this year. Cutcliffe is a good coach but he's still coaching at Duke and he's missing some pieces. Miami won 8 games on the back of Kaaya. GT won a whopping 3 games. BC doesn't like to score points.
A lot of those collective wins came against ACC teams. The ACC isn't as tough as the Big10, Big12, SEC, or Pac12. The ACC is undeniably the weakest of the P5 conferences so don't pretend that because we lost to teams in our own division that means they are tough teams. The SEC West is a TOUGH division. Any team in that division can say they have a TOUGH schedule. The ACC Coastal is not the same gauntlet by any stretch of the imagination. Two of the best teams we play next year are out of conference(technically...I'm including ND since they're not an ACC member in football). Our conference schedule may be challenging for us, because we're a 6-6 team right now, but it's a relatively soft schedule when you look at the big picture. We don't play any scary teams in our conference. They're all decent-to-good teams but they all have flaws and none of them are going to have 11 or 12 win seasons in the next 4 years.
I believe that under Fuente, and with the talent we have, VT will quickly be elevated over a majority of the conference simply because the ACC isn't very good right now. It won't take much to win the Coastal. With modest improvements on Offense this team could cruise through league play because our league is soft compared to the other P5 leagues. Outside of Tennessee, ND, UNC, and maybe Miami(give them a couple years under Richt) the rest of our schedule is full of teams that won't scare anybody. It's soft.
