Plus (and I think this was alluded to elsewhere), how much difference is there really, between a RB and WR? They should already know the basics of how to grab the ball. So, in either case, the coach is there mainly for route running and ball protection, concepts that apply to both positions.
Does anyone know the new law from last year well, I still dont get it, come January 1, is there no max weight limit for strippers EDIT: STRIPERS haaa anymore?

Honestly, I didnt take it seriously whenever I saw his name thrown around jobs for that exact reason.
I really didnt think he would go anywhere. Its not a bad hire for ECU, it will be interesting to see who these coaches bring in as OC's.

Do you know how rare it is for a true freshmen non early enrolle to see the field with a full playbook in his head? People expect these kids to come in and get on the field first thing and know every play its just not that easy.
too soon... i'm not ready to laugh about that play yet...
Well, judging from Loeffler's comments in the past 2 weeks it sounds like the only reason he was kept off the field during Brewer's injury was because he had a hard time with the mental aspect like getting the playbook down. To me it sounds like it will take him longer to absorb Fuente's playbook than say Motley or Evans. SO, I hope if he isn't going to compete for playing time this year he will redshirt and have 2 years of starter time if Evans does emerge as QB1 by Fall.
Plenty of coaches move around, plenty of coaches coach positions they didn't play. The narrative that a coach needs to have played that position to coach it is a failed one.

I understand this move from a recruiting standpoint, but I don't understand it from a position coach standpoint. He was WR coach at ODU and then at VT. It's not like his resume is very long (or at least long enough for us to assume he can seamlessly transition to coaching RB's). I'll also admit that I don't really know enough about the coaching profession.
You and me both. I was even trying to monitor this thread because I knew this exact thing would happen.
Point of fact only the Furman game had 5 RB/FB's get close to the same amount of carries.

I don't believe he would be going around kowtowing to JCC and the others, or any player. I believe it was a show of respect that was poorly worded to the media.
I think Shane genuinely felt that he was playing the backs according to situation and he did a very poor job at that.
DeShaun Jackson finds Stroman's reverse return skills amateur in nature. Plus, who runs in reverse and forgets to fumble?
Was there in person today. Quite a few things have improved over the last few games. The ball movement looked really good and the passes were quicker. This seems to lead to less stupid turnovers. Also, guys are starting to kick it out when they drive in instead of going for the 1v5 shot attempt. Last but not least, the perimeter defense has improved. Very few wide open jumpers. Almost every attempted three had a hand in their face. On the other hand the free throw shooting is still awful. Excited to see this team play some tougher competition.

True, but he should have run out of bounds. He got hit because he didn't get out of bounds quickly enough, leaving Stroman no choice.
I mentioned Urban Meyer specifically because he was successful at Utah. Utah has similar drawbacks to BYU (location, crappy conference when Meyer was there), but some key advantages: gets non-mormon players, can hire non-mormon coaches, is not BYU. So I'm saying even though Meyer was successful at Utah, I think he'd struggle at BYU so you can't really fault anyone else for struggling there recruiting-wise.
I get the physical advantage of having older players, but those players are older because they have been out of high school doing their missionary assignment, not training to be football players. I'll take the nationwide pool of 18 year olds who are totally focused on football over a considerably smaller pool of 22 year olds who haven't played competitively in 4 years any day.
