Unfortunately Allen has made some maddening decisions/turnovers that made it easier to criticize him. (Myself included)
That said some people have to have at least one scapegoat on the team, it's like a prerequisite and an easy way to complain without digging into stats or anything. It happens every year, it'll be Devin Wilson or Allen this year.
(I'm not talking about anyone specifically on TKP, it happens with almost every fan base and social media outlet)
I live in Lynchburg, it's like UVA vomited and all their fans landed in Lynchburg or Forest. It's about 50/50 but UVA fans whine a lot more around here.
That's gonna be a question for Mason and French to answer. I watched about 2.5 quarters of Memphis football this past season, so I have no idea what Fuente's tendencies in terms of personnel are. I just know whatever he does worked at Memphis.
My issue with the Lefty/Shane tailback rotation was exactly the same as yours. I'm fine with four and five tailbacks getting touches in a game. But when you're spinning the Wheel of Destiny on the sideline between plays to see which back goes in next, you're doing it wrong.

....there can only be so many such places. You must live on UVA's campus. Because being from Charlottesville, I can tell you that it's pretty close to 50/50 Tech-UVa fans.

I will be curious to see how the RB rotation is handled this year. My biggest gripe with it this past season wasn't about how many RBs were touching the ball so much as how often the backs were being swapped out. I'm expecting Fuente to lean heavily on the running game so I'm sure plenty of backs will get carries. What I'm curious to see is if multiple backs get carries in a 4 play sequence or if he rides one back for a series before swapping them out.
I'm also curious as to the talent breakdown among the RB's at Memphis. This is complete conjecture but I would guess that they didn't have as clear cut of a #1 like we had with Travon this year (at least the second half of the year).

Yes, both in total and percentage. Memphis attempted 429 passes out of 961 total plays, meaning they passed roughly 45% of the time. VT, by comparison, had 356 pass attempts and 858 total plays, passing 41% of the time.
However, both offenses are balanced in run:pass ratio, with a tendency to prefer the run to the pass.
FT shooting is not awful. We have four guys shooting > or = to 75% from the stripe. Hudson is shooting 67% and should improve on that considering his season basically just started.
Bibbs and Clarke are the only two guys that arent doing great and Bibbs just hasn't gone to the line much at all. LeDay might be the best FT shooting big man we've had in years.
Also we lead the nation in the % of points scored off FT's going into the UAPB game, I imagine we're still up there considering we made 22 of 30 FT's in that game.
My team picked a wonderful time for basically all of them to get half their season average points. Fantasy football is cruel.
Perhaps, but a coach has to actually have to compete for all those 18 year olds with all the other programs, where at BYU a coach has a serious advantage regarding that small pool of 22 year olds.
I wouldn't discount the advantage of maturity level (physically and mentally) of a 22 year old vs an 18 year old, or the fact that BYU was a top 25 school before Mendenhall arrived. Those are relevant factors.
Hate is a strong word,I like Seth, don't get me wrong, and I think he has gotten much better than the first hand full of game but I just think his style is a little more individualized at times and less team centered. There were two instances yesterday where he drove down the middle, getting around all the defense for layup and missed both. Instead of turning around to go on defense, he was under the basket upset that he missed which led to Lamar having 5 on 4 leading to easy baskets.
I think he is a fantastic player on the offensive side and is very quick but plays more like an NBA style point guard right now.
My only concern is when the game is close and he has the ball in his, what will he do, drive in no matter what or do what's best for the team.
I'm fine with that, so long as the rotation is logical. If he trots out a different RB between every single play on a single set of downs I will lose my mind. If he does that, and it's wildly successful, then I'll owe Shane a huge apology for ridiculing his tactics.
Edit: Also, I'm willing to bet Memphis threw the ball more than VT did.
Outside of Alabama State, it's nice to see us hand out ass whoopings to teams we should be handling with ease.

CJF really likes to spread the ball around in the running game. Their leading rusher in carries only had 144 through 12 games. Compare that to Travon McMillian getting 184 carries, after it taking half the season to settle on him as the feature back. I think your hope of settling on two anchor running backs is now out the window in the Fuente era.
Evans has never been sacked at the JUCO level, because he was able to escape with his feet or throw the ball away.
Wow that's crazy. Unless our O-line sees some pretty big improvements next year he will need to be ready to see that trend change as he makes the transition to the ACC. Just ask Michael Brewer...

you and I are in agreement then. It didn't make any sense to me to have a different tailback in the game every other play and our running game struggled early in the year (if memory serves) so it is easy for fans to draw that correlation regardless of whether it's accurate or not. I've spent a ton of time and posted numerous comments bemoaning the way our RBs were used early on and I'm going to have to eat a whole lot of crow if Fuente employs a similar RB rotation; especially if it turns out to be successful. It will be interesting to watch.
