that's awesome to hear. i love to dispel notions that VT is inferior or doesn't meet their expectations as a premier institution of learning.
as a graduate, i like to point out that we're a top 75 national university (per USNWR), top 30 public university and have top 25 programs in business, engineering, agriculture and architecture. i also let people know the Princeton Review ranked our alumni network #5 in the nation besting all Ivy League schools save for Dartmouth (and three spots ahead of UVA).
Which mock was that? And did they mention how many drinks deep they were while writing it?

Mike London was going to go to Memphis after getting fired from loluva but changed his mind after learning this.
Unless you're one of 4 wide receivers committed, and there's rumblings that we may add a top 10 receiver on top of that...
Still not saying going to USCe is a good move, but we could be very crowded at that position pretty soon.
I believe Dadi was committed elsewhere and Maddy was not committed at that point. Maddy's spot opened up because of Stephone Anthony going to Clemson I think. Alex Koma wrote a fantastic article on them over the summer.
Just like they suspended Winston for his antics.

Kelly never actually had a VT offer, we were interested and he tried to lobby to get one but never did. I remember everybody assuming we offered him when he tweeted that we did, but it is forgotten that he deleted that tweet a couple days afterwards.
I agree with your last line. All the recent (well deserved) attention Ford has gotten as the all-ACC first team and breaking VT passing records has given him all-the-more power in saying that at VT, you can be a 1st class WR and lead the ACC....something we haven't been able to say for quite some time.

How can the NCAA know who is just trolling and who is truly a fan. They're in a no win situation.

While I hope this isn't true, there certainly is precedent. Remember Chad Kelly posting pics of him and his girlfriend all decked out in VT gear and getting everyone excited (and not just because his girlfriend was hot) - before he committed to Ole Miss?
I gotta believe the Ford connection is the difference in this case.
This didn't hurt things either. Serious. If anything, brought tons of attention to South Florida. And a few rings along the way too.
