If the Hokies hadn't brought in Loeffler and Grimes, they're probably home for the Holidays after the 2013 season. His route trees for receivers and tight ends are way better than what we had previously, and he did make Thomas a better QB.
However, between 2013 and today, the Hokies are one freak missed FG from being 0-3 against Duke. They are 0-2 against Duke at home during that span. They lost to Wake Forest 6-3 in their only ACC victory last year.
Those results, (and a few others) rest squarely on the shoulders of the offensive coaching staff. That buck stops with Loeffler. I just can't get over that.
I heard he might be in charge of free kicks that occur in the 1st half. In other words, time to move on.

Druck and Holmes broke their little 'Hoo hearts that day and sent us to the Sugar Bowl for a great game against Texas. Ahhh, here's hoping the good ole days are here again!!
Pretty sure that Dabo was the wide receivers coach at Clemson when they showed Bowden the door. That worked out pretty well for them.

One thing I've noticed the last few years is that our return game is totally out of whack. The returners themselves haven't been good, but returns games are all about timing of the blocks. Our timing has been awful, it would be nice to see that improve.
We could also use some more team speed. One thing I've seen more and more with the spread teams is they have a plethora of guys who hit the alleys at full speed. We don't have many fast guys anymore. That's probably why Stroma was pushed and pulled all over the field this year, he's the only guy with a shread of speed on our team. Ford and Phillips aren't fast. Knowles was fast but not quick and certainly not instinctual. Green and JCC aren't fast.
Need. More. Speed.

Depends on the QB. If we get as good of QB play as we got this year, I would think we could add 4-6 points per game.
We are currently averaging 28 points per game, up 4 points from 2015 and 5 points from '12-13. In 2011 we avg'd 28 points, in 2010 we avg'd 34 points.
It seems reasonable with the amount of returning offensive talent that we should average 32 points per game, maybe as high as 35. If our defense plays average, that should lead to a 8 win season or better.

Slye and Santamaria will be Jr. and r-So. next year, so PK may be set for a while.

Glad he made the adjustments needed to get such an important win for Beamer. I wish him the best of luck with his next gig, wherever and whatever it may be, and I'm looking forward to Fuente getting to work with the offensive weapons we've got right now.

Ok, so we lost six games this year. The total amount of points by which we lost? 42. That's counting the 18 we lost to the Buckeyes by. If we only lost six games by average of a touchdown, isn't it reasonable to think Fuente's offensive-mindedness could get 7 more a game? Whit must have thought the same thing at some point. Somebody send that man some co-eds as a reward.
