I think that's due more to Bama bias than SEC bias. The committee loves them some Bama.
As Danny Kanell said, they seem to grade Alabama differently than everyone else.

its really hard to say what happened with the rest of the WRs on our roster. I mean I feel like you could send out demitri noles and he could run a route and catch the football and pretend to block and maybe a couple other folks. they have been playing WR their whole lives. if the talent level was that much of a drop of that we couldn't even get guys a rest and we had to bring stroman over to run jet sweeps when we had people on the roster who had previously done it maybe it was just these guys didn't deserve playing time? either their attitude or effort or something rubbed burden the wrong way. maybe they had developed such bad habits that they couldn't be broken at this point? idk I find it really really odd that not ONE WR made an appearance this season other than asante and that was in an emergency or garbage time. just a really really weird situation to me from a WR coach stand point.

To me a guy who has been a successful head coach will always get a pass for the first new job he takes, someone who has never been a head coach (outside of one game) has a lot of questions behind it. Saban also doesn't do so well when facing high powered offenses. Some times that defensive mind hurts Bama also.
That's what lots of other teams in the BIG thought this year. MSU needed miracles to win games this year.
I think that he'd be a much better fit at South Carolina. He's coached there during they're highest success, he recruited well there, and they seem to like him.

There is an emphasis on offense in today's game, yes. VT needs a better offense to complement a traditionally stout defense. Whit knows you've got to put points on the board to win and draw fans. True enough. I wouldn't necessarily call Alabama a consistent offensive powerhouse, but their defense has been top-notch for many years. So if someone hired Saban away from Bama, would you dismiss the hire because he's defensive-minded? Their offense has generally been what ours wishes to be; ball-control, run-heavy, and powerful. You don't have to go air raid to be successful. You just need to have a vision and scheme that can put points up.
Maryland has recruited extremely heavily on the offensive side of the ball this year. It will be interesting to see who Durkin hires as OC. It feels like a strange fit on the surface but I think what will make or break the move is what type of offense they try to run.

without a doubt the most premier conference in all of sports. No other conference has a single team that could survive the gauntlet of the SEC. The SEC is all powerful and nobody outside of the SEC truly plays real football. The SEC deserves to have 4 teams in the CFP and it's ridiculous that they can only get 1 or 2 in. They're being robbed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!1!!

That being said, on a more serious note I think perception means everything. The SEC does have a lot of money and fan support (ESPN) and the perception is that the league is head and shoulders better than everyone. I still think OSU would get in before a 3-loss SEC team but in the extremely unlikely event that Florida manages to beat Bama I think both teams get in.
Plenty of great coaches have failed in certain situations.
