I've been all-in for Bud as HC since CFB announced his retirement. I thought at the very least, Whit would give him an interview. I shared your disappointment when I first read that Bud never got that interview, but I have changed my stance on that. I can't help but applaud Whit for being completely upfront and honest with Bud and telling him that he wanted an offensive minded coach as the next HC. That's not Bud and it never will be. But, thankfully, we have an AD who seems to do things the right way and he was straight forward with Bud from the beginning. I can't be disappointed knowing that's how things happened.

I posted this on the Sam Rogers conference message board, but I thought everyone else might enjoy it as well:

I apologize for causing any confusion, but, in light of recent events, I felt I should change my team name [from 11 Straight] to accurately reflect a certain streak. I know this might seem a little silly or HOKIE to some people but anyone HOO doesn't like it can go drink a Zima.

I'm thinking that the new staff should have a chance to develop new relationships.

If the relationship is already good, it should be relatively straightforward. If the relationship is a little stale, this is a chance to start fresh.

Agree 100% considering he said this yesterday-

"Recruiting is usually talked about in two phases, and one of the phases is the only one that gets talked about. Everybody talks about recruiting or relationships and sales and convincing people to come, but the other part of recruiting is evaluation. We will do our own evaluation here. We will not read other people's evaluations in determining who to recruit. We will do a great job finding the right kids to come into this program and help push this thing forward, and we will also do a fantastic job developing those relationships so that we can identify and recruit the right kids."

I'm not sure he could be any clearer with his thoughts on rankings and evaluation. I think there are a lot of Hokies that will have to get used to the "new sheriff in town" and that he will be operating by his own rules.

I wonder how his style will be embraced by the 757 vs. the old regime? With the rise of 7-on-7 and its emphasis on passing (quickly I might add), hopefully we can make inroads to offseason/7v7 programs we have not been able to recruit in the past.

It was assumed Oscar Smith was "anti-VT" after Greg Boone came in 2005 and we moved him to TE and didn't give him a shot at playing QB. There were multiple 4* recruits from 2008 - 2010 that all never really gave VT a chance. IIRC, Phillip Sims even said something about this when he chose to leave the state and go to Alabama.

However, we got our next Oscar Smith recruit in 2012 with JC Coleman and things have appeared to change, since we also got Bradshaw '14 and McClease '15.

If I lose to the ghost team and miss the playoffs because of it, I'm quitting fantasy football.

For two minutes.

Loooots of throwing. I'm not sure what the run-pass distribution on that game was but it looked really unbalanced through 3.5 quarters
