More correct definition of Pouch:

1. a bag, sack, or similar receptacle, especially one for small articles or quantities (Where Mike London's wins against VT go)

2. a small moneybag (Whit gives to Fuente)

3. a bag for carrying mail (Where all of Fuente's scholarship offers go)

4. a bag or case of leather, used by soldiers to carry ammunition. (Bud keeps his blitzes here)

7. a baggy fold of flesh under the eye. (Mike London after the INT, Me after watching Bud/Frank/Shane after INT)

When a statue of Frank is built outside of Lane Stadium, I hope that they save room for Bud on the plinth, providing just enough room for his statue to wrap his arms around Coach Beamer as an eternal symbol of their kinship.

Perhaps the image of Bud kissing Frank on the neck should be the statue.

That, and all of the research they did going into this, and they did A LOT, showed that the teams with the most success in today's college football era more times than not are led by a coach with an offensive background and mindset. They did more research and investigation into this process than many are willing to give them credit for. And let's be honest, they did Bud a huge favor by being up front and honest with him once they realized that he wasn't the best option for VT as head coach and not giving him an empty interview.

Considering he is still here, I think he came out of this process feeling pretty good, too. Don't think any bridges were burned.

Agreed, part of it is Brewer's arm. But even then, Brewer still threw it a farther distance to Malleck than what's in the play above. Tempo is going to be a big change, not just between snaps but in how quickly a play develops.

I am quite positive that Gray has stated in the past that he is content to coach VT football in any capacity that he can until the end of his coaching days. I remember that quite clearly and it may have been when that picture of him in the shorts was taken at his home, if others remember. Something about him having the job he wants and not interested to go anywhere but coach here. If there were opportunities here great, otherwise he would remain DB coach. Not sure how accurate that is. I don't have time to search through to check. Anyone else remember that?

Why would you think that?

So I guess he won't be coaching the bowl game?

Did you forget about ECU???

(throws up in mouth)

I get that, but there are thousands of high school athletes out there. If there is a guy that Fuente likes that is a 2/3* recruit, there is probably an identical guy that is more skilled and more athletic that is a 4/5*.

In college football, sometimes a big play happens because you simply have the more athletic player that can take a WR screen 75 yards to the house. Those are the guys I want.

Whit told Foster that he wanted to get a more offensive minded coach in here after thoroughly researching the data.

Anyway you shake it, Bud was not going to be an Offensively minded Head Coach. Who knows who his OC would have been, but it Whit gave him an hi sent opinion up front.

I could be wrong but I doubt that was CBF's logic. If he was going to be a head coach he would have done it by now. I think he truly loves the Hokies and the Burg, and sees what a good fit Fuente is with his defense. Even if we just improve recruiting slightly, we will be playing in the ACCCG again. I agree with the poster above that the uncertainty around Beamer hurt recruiting and that it wasn't the only thing holding us back. Hopefully we take back the state in recruiting...

Pipeline is for future players from that school that may come to VT down the road..For example, offer Stroman who may help to get Settle. What a coincidence. Why are you even showing alumni from other sports 10 years ago?

We pouched a kid away from an 0-12 Kansas team (his best offer). Again, I hope he's great and I am in no ways knocking him.

I am equally excited about the coach and our future. However, I wouldn't call it a recruiting rampage as of yet. Go get Ellis and Haskins, that's a mini rampage.

Welcome to the County! I grew up there. It has changed a ton since I left there, but my family still lives there.

Sounds like if we make it to the Military Bowl I can stay a few days longer in MD for Christmas and make a return trip to Annapolis. OR head back to my new home city of Charlotte for the Belk Bowl... the Holiday's are shaping up niiiiiiicely.
