Agree. But isn't that's pretty much the same approach the old regime took?

Now of course, coach perceptions and recruiting site aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Opinions on, say, Percy Harvin aren't going to vary much (...as a player anyway). But I always got the sense when listening to VT coaches talk in person, they didn't really care about ratings (and weren't even particularly aware of them), and instead solely went on what they saw and what they needed. Maybe I've got O&M glasses on, but I don't think this is quite the case at many other programs.

In the end folks worry too much about how many of the top 10 in Virginia VT gets...when in reality the old staff and the new staff probably only want or need maybe half of those 10 (albeit there have been some high profile whiffs recently in that 50%...).

St. Mary's County?

I'll have to respectfully disagree.

Whit gave Bud a fair shake. He was honest and up front with him from the outset of the coaching search.

That's not a fair shake. It may have been courteous, but its not a fair shake.

I think many people on this board believed that Foster deserved an opportunity, but that opportunity wasn't given. He didn't get to give Whit his recruiting plan, offensive philosophy, team management plan, or ANYTHING of the sort. Whit wanted an offensive minded coach, and that's who he hired.

Down the line, we may find that Whit was right. At the same time, I find it to be a close-minded approach. Many successful head coaches are born out of successful coordinators, and I don't think anyone will object to me saying that Bud fits the criteria of "successful coordinator". Just because Bud coaches one side of the ball instead of the other, we're supposed to believe that there's no chance he was the right man for the head hokie position? That's the message I got from Whit, and I don't like it.

I almost had you. But Brees has crashed and burned so hard after being mr. money touchdowns earlier in the month.

That and I think all were just a couple yds long where he just found soft spot in end zone. Like I said earlier afford had a great year and has every opportunity baring injury to come back next year and get all the established guy stuff some say Boyd has received. Truth is even the commentators didn't think of Ford as VT biggest threat. Most thought Bucky to be The Guy!

Yeah me too, just moved to Southern MD a couple months ago actually. I just don't want to have the risk of losing to a school like Navy (stupid triple option...) in Beamer's last game.

On an annual basis, a conference member may permit a maximum of four nonqualifiers (two in men's sports and two in women's sports with no more than one in any single sport) who have been granted a partial waiver by the NCAA Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee

You would think/hope Fuente was told football would be able to accept a JUCO for him to offer one.

Looks like Ole Miss was keying on the run though. But Memphis was able to run enough to keep the passing game successfull. And if anyone watches New England's offense throwing short quick 3 yrds passes all night long that are pretty hard to stop and can be considered run plays to open something down the field when the defense creeps in tight.

Kinda fits Fuente's narrative though. Play to your strengths. Lynch is a hell of a QB and Memphis staff did a great job developing wide receivers.
