I understand getting on the same page. And am not saying wholesale playing sexism stringers. But Ford and Phillips played the entire game last week (and almost every snap last year). Fatigue leads to ineffectiveness and injury.

Plus, this is a good chance to get the 3,4,5 receivers some work.

Edit: second stringers (too funny to change)

I've been watching him specifically more than anyone else on defense. I'll defer to the experts, but to my eyes he is still taking himself out of plays, not shooting gaps, not shedding blocks. Being in on a tackle 5 yards on the wrong side of the line of scrimmage isn't what we expect of our Mikes.

Dropping back into coverage for a really easy pick 6 is nice, but that was an INT that was created by scheme and the QB not noticing Motu was dropping back.

I'm just not seeing a lot to be hopeful for, particularly when we meet GT, and the fact that he's still in there tells me we have no dependable depth there.

He had a legit pick-6 in the first series. The next series, their QB got hit as he threw. It was ruled an incomplete pass. Motu picked it up and ran it in, but it was never ruled a TD, so nothing was called back.

Agree 100% Motley and Lawson both need to work with Ford, Phillips, Hodges, Malleck, Rogers, and Kline as many snaps as possible. I hope nobody gets hurt, but this is the best possible opportunity for them to play together.

Meanwhile the DL seems to be subbing pretty frequently -- the 2's are getting lots of reps. I saw Alexander and Shegog out there, too.

I think Motley consistently overthrew deep routes in spring (can anyone confirm?) and it doesn't look like much has changed. He had Ford wide open for a walk in TD and couldn't put it in his reach :( He started off with late throws all over the field but it looked like he was starting to get more comfortable with the timing going into the second quarter which is encouraging. I liked the play to Hodges at the end of the first. That looked like a pretty good throw down the middle of the field. I wonder if we'll see any of Durkin in the 2nd half

Understandable. But why not run and set up some more manageable throws? Have him throw to the sticks and get in a rhythm. I actually like the shots downfield but I'd like to see some more throws over the middle of the field.
