I've had similar ones too, many years after I was out.

My dream-self never seems to realize I'm not in school anymore, allowing the panic or guilt to set in before I wake up. In my case it was either out of pocket money I'd have to repay the Navy for the class, or having to tell my parents.

The top four teams in the acc get a double bye in the acc tournament.

I've been seeing "last four in" and "first four out" for years, I don't remember this one.

Its what winners do....mostly a foreign concept in Hokieland

What exactly is a "first four bye", asking for a friend?

This is all mind boggling. Also that Stanford counts as Quad 1 for both Tech & UVA when they are below .500 in league play.

All those things are true and largely agree, but that doesn't explain losing games like yesterday's.

No one who is being even slightly realistic thinks we are going to be a top-3 ACC team or compete with them.

But this team showed it is talented enough to beat top 25 teams and then followed it by losing (and looking listless) against an inferior team in an absolute must-win.

That just isn't good enough at this point.

And the Neo experiment has been pretty much a total bust. We are never going to be near the top in basketball NIL dollars, so to attract better players, we're going to need to convince them we can develop them. That's going to be a very difficult sell after this.

I don't know, I don't necessarily think the firing Mike Young is the answer, because there's certainly no guarantee we get anyone better. And then there's the other question--do we really want someone better if we have to have a Nate Oats-style coach who has No Reservations about recruiting murderers and openly cheating?

But I do think the book is out at this point. Young is a guy who is best suited for mid-major basketball in the pre-NIL era where he could build a team over time. Those days are gone and I just don't see Young being able to completely re-wire himself to the NIL Hellscape of today.

Most years we are going to be bottom-half of ACC under Young with occasional ventures into the top 1/3. Probably reasonable for the resources he has, but also believe if he could prove that he could be a consistent winner, the university might also be willing to commit more resources.

UVA has a ranking of 37, so you are correct, it was a Quad 2

This game was played at Cal so it might be Quad 2

One thing they posted was that Cal didnt have any Quad 1 wins this year. They just beat UVA before us so curious how that wasnt Quad 1.

Fam!
Also, the inevitable west coast hangover game will be against UNC so we can get a quality loss!

I like Ojukwu a lot for Cal as a bench player. Has some poise.

Those four or five points though by not making easy layups against Tournament teams though are huge.

Suffren gets headbutted but no call

Wenzel may have been poor shooting again but she drew a lot of fouls and was a perfect 10/10 from the line and played great D.

Why didnt they force Cal to challenge the out of bounds call? Just let the Cal coach influence them into reversing the call with no review.
