I grew up on the fringes of Blacksburg, near many of those communities. I'm well aware of the poverty that exists outside of people associated with the university. Perhaps hanging out with those people growing up has colored my experience, but like I said I wouldn't feel unsafe going anywhere in Blacksburg as long as I wasn't trespassing. I guess my point was that poor people aren't scary while trying not to be confrontational about it.

As a side note, a lot of the poorer areas that existed when I was growing up have been dwindling in recent years as people get priced out of the area and end up having to move to Christiansburg.

TT also had a huge contribution against Clemson that year IIRC.

Tyrod posted almost 300 yards total against FSU, and a bit under 200 against Clemson,

I remember Clemson out gaining us yard-wise even though we were up big on the scoreboard in 07. Beamer Ball is what helped us win that game, not really the offense. TT helped us move the chains, but I don't think he was the reason we won that game particularly.

But in general, yes, without TT we would've lost against FSU and others in 07, but I'm not sure if we would've fared better against Clemson in 2011 with him either. I guess it's a shoulda / woulda / coulda game at this point.

Heights and weights seem a little suspect. Did we measure and weigh our guys (Brewer specifically) wearing all their equipment? 6'1" sounds like his height with cleats and 198 seems ridiculous. Or maybe Gentry is literally growing our players.

In the first six games VT was already seeing injuries, no team in modern college football uses one back anymore. So if you expect to see one back to get more than 60-70 percent of the carries you will be waiting a long time.

Check the box scores on all of the first like 6 games, every single one Tech uses at least 3 running backs (I say at least because they used Deon in jet sweeps). Like I said, I agree with the end of the year when we had no one left... But beginning to middle of the year was a different story.

I think that JCC deserves to the be the number 1 RB right now. That doesn't mean that he is better than Edmunds, but when you break the VT bowl game record for rushing over the likes Ryan Williams, Darren Evans, David Wilson, Kevin Jones, Lee Suggs and more... you deserve a shot at being the sole number 1 back until being proven otherwise.

I realize the receiver's alignments are subject to change from snap to snap, so it's probably no big deal - but I'm still a little curious why the FL is shown on the line of scrimmage and the SE is shown in the backfield on this depth chart. Seems like they should be reversed -

I've got my orange 11

That's all you need to worry about for Orange Effect. ;)

While this is depressing and not the way many of you imagine the season going, it's starkly realistic. Thiscouldhappen, and one version of it or another (ranging between 7-5 and 10-2) probably will.

Made me cry a little bit...

I've got my orange 11, and maroon 3 (Greg Stroman) jerseys all ready for whichever ones come out of the tunnel. Don't have tickets yet (have a lead) but we're coming to Blacksburg regardless. So we'll either be in the stands or at PKs.
