Yeah that's what I remember too.
And re: Size and jump - if that is true, it's mainly the scheme / coverage that should help out with those disadvantages. If you give them outside leverage then you need to be able to (presumably) swat away balls or something like that in order to ensure the ball isn't caught; or perhaps squeeze them more towards the sideline so they land out of bounds.

grimes did have brady taylor before his flip to OSU, but looks like he's 2nd string center for them now. How many, if any, of those guys that SS landed did grimes establish relationships with? I would think at the least he had developed a relationship with Austin.
Remember ECU's last touchdown, they had 5 Wide Receivers and we were forced to cover all of them. Leaving the QB basically open to score. IF tOSU does anything, it will be that, so JT Barrett can make runs since we will have guys away from the QB. Perhaps some delayed runs

The 148 is the Thales handheld. The other's are Harris radios. I worked at Harris for 22 years. My last 7, before coming to work up here in Blacksburg, was working making the -117G and the -152A radios into airborne embedded versions for UAVs and manned aircraft. -117G is an awesome radio - especially with the ANW2C MANET networking waveform!

JTAC is an important job, kudos to you. In my work on those radios we studied the CONOPS of your job to be sure to lessen the workload of what you do while insuring high quality radio communications. Salute!!
yeah I have been doing it since I graduated in 04... it is fun, but damn some of the kids I have to deal with could have been method actors in that movie idiocracy.... and yeah I check the police blotter daily to see if any of my kids wont be coming in the next day.....

The only barometer I care about is the results on the field at Virginia Tech.
On the recruiting front, I don't think there's any doubt that Searels has been more effective at recruiting OL talent to Blacksburg when compared to Grimes. Will it be enough for our team to be successful? To be determined.
Grimes landed a bunch of 3-star recruits who are all a little on the small size for P5 OL. Not Willenbrock sized obviously but maybe 1-2" short and/or 15-25lb lighter than "ideal". Oh and he landed zero OT's when OT was the obvious, immediate need for our OL.

Searels has landed higher rated guys with P5 size. At least one of which is going to be a contributor as a true freshman (partly due to talent, partly due to Grimes not recruiting anyone in 2014 who could play OT in 2015)

Yes but this isn't the same team that played last year - for them or for us. That's like saying that MSU should've beaten them last year just because they beat OSU the year before that in the conference championship. It's fresh season with some new players - anything can happen.
So, those past stats go out the window. Certainly they're dangerous and we respect them, but I doubt they'll be completely clicking on all cylinders on day 1 either.
That's pretty much what I've been saying all off season. ECU did the fade route to perfection against us, and if ECU can do it with (theoretically) less talent than OSU, then OSU certainly can't take it off the board.
That, and those screen picks ECU was doing all game certainly bugged the hell out of me.
