Here's a question...

Why is Whit the one in charge of getting a concert on campus? I've been to a few campus concerts, and I don't think the AD had anything to do with any of them. Are we maybe giving Whit too much credit for landing this? Shouldn't Sands and/or the Student Union have had a hand in this?

Absolutely no need to invoke the fact that you're Jewish, because it insinuates that those of us who aren't Jewish don't have the same capacity for offense when it comes to casual holocaust jokes, and I take great exception to that. It's simply not the case.

Sorry, no. Anyone can take exception to a Holocaust joke, but actually BEING Jewish adds a dimension that gentiles will simply never quite be able to identify with. (And I say this as a gentile.) It's one thing to know that it's abhorrent. It's another to have a grandmother or a grandfather with a tattoo from a concentration camp, or to know that some of the claw marks on the walls of the gas chamber at Auschwitz were made by one of your ancestors.

My wife (also a Gentile) worked as a counselor at a summer camp for Jewish children after graduating college. She got to know several of the families that sent their kids to camp there, and became probably as well versed in Jewish customs as anyone who has never been to temple ever has. And from talking to her about it, I can honestly say, as a Caucasian American of Irish heritage, there is NOTHING that comes even remotely close to affecting me and my cultural identity as the Holocaust has for modern Jews. My ancestors were spat on as they got off the boat at Ellis Island, but theirs were herded by the millions like cattle straight to their deaths, subjected to torture-porn-level medical experiments without consent, and an assortment of other atrocities too hideous to discuss.

So, yeah, no, sorry. You can take exception to a Holocaust joke. But you have no idea what it's like to even think about the Holocaust if you're Jewish.

Is there any way to up your already existing recurring payment? I'd prefer to only have one payment go out monthly. Thanks!

As for the Bear, solving it is only half the problem; just as in engineering once you solve the problem you have to prove the solution works. If we can successfully exploit your man coverage it will force Foster to rethink his D.

I think this is where Foster excels, mainly because he knows you have been trying to find a way to exploit the bear cover 0 look. I don't know what wrinkle he will run, but I highly doubt the bear is a huge factor. I think it doesn't come into play until 2nd quarter and that's only if we already have your o-line on their back foot. Jm2c and I've been wrong before, but that's the way I see it. He knows defense better than most anyone, so I expect a new wrinkle to foul up your offensive playmaking ability.

this is the issue I had with the post. When I first saw it my immediate thought was that you came across as "Hey, look, we should all hate OSU because they're all *********s" which is an unfair assessment. Considering the amount of traffic that this site sees from OSU fans this particular thread made us look like weasel-y politicians slinging mud to make them look bad and give our fan base a reason to hate all things Buckeye. That makes us look bad and classless and I didn't care for it. I may be mistaken, but I thought the title of the Forum was different (has it changed to be more toned down?) originally and gave the impression that you were ready to get the pitchforks out and stab at anything wearing red.

I don't buy into the "we spent too much time preparing for Navy and weren't ready for VT". If that's the true case, its probably the most blatant batch of incompetent gameplanning and coaching I've ever heard. Ever. I don't buy it. Meyer is too good of a coach to focus too much time on what should be a tuneup and underprepare for the first true test of the year.

They were ready for our game, and they just got beat. Then again, it was the first time Loeffler opened up the playbook against an opponent and it was the first time we unveiled the bear package on defense. Ohio St just wasn't ready for that combination (don't know how they would have been able to prepare) and we came out fighting lefty when they were expecting us to be right hand dominant.

For a variety of reasons (injuries and off the field issues) we got a lot worse over the course of the season, and they got better. 21 days from today will prove whether or not what we showed in Columbus last year was a fluke or the true level towards which our team should be playing. I suspect we'll see it was less fluke and we'll give them a hell of a game. Will we win? Probably not, but we'll come away thinking there's no reason we shouldn't win the ACC this year.

This is the right mindset to have regardless of whether you like the artist....follow me on this example for a minute

by this logic, wouldn't Taylor Swift be the best fit? family friendly, popular (the 'hell of a show' criteria is subjective but I'm positive there are people who would tell you that you wouldn't be disappointed)..She's also polarizing...it seems people love her or hate her...My point is that no matter who Whit gets to perform for VT there will be people who dislike that particular artist for any number of reasons. Taylor Swift is incredibly popular right now and by your logic would be the best possible option. I, for one, would not be excited about her performing (my fiance would undoubtedly disagree with me here) and I'm sure there are plenty of others with whom I share that sentiment. Brad Paisley is also very popular and I'm sure there will be a significant turnout for his performance. There will still be people who don't like his work.

Even if Metallica came, I'm sure there are plenty of Hokies out there who know little to nothing more of Metallica than 'Enter Sandman'. In fact, 'Enter Sandman' isn't even their best song...

It's good that Whit is trying to get a big-name artist to perform ahead of 'the most anticipated game in VT history' and even if it's not someone I particularly care for I still think its a great move by our AD. I would say the same if it were Taylor Swift or Metallica
