I've met D Hall in Blacksburg a few times, and he was nothing but a nice guy. A friend and I were in Sharkeys before the spring game a few years ago and he came in to meet some friends. My friend gave him a "hail to the redskins" and he came over and talked to us for a few minutes. To me, he's a total class act.
I also hate the criticism he gets. VT is still very important to him. A few weeks ago he was driving down 81 and stopped in Blacksburg just for the hell of it.

We called Gucci Kroger "Harris Kroger" because we were in school when it converted from a Harris Teeter to a Kroger.
They do. It got smashed up when some guys horsing around crashed through the window over the summer, but they're fixing it.
Most churches and schools nearby open their lots for a price ($20 as I remember it). You can park pretty close, but you still do have to get into town fairly early, otherwise they fill up, too.
Does Souvlaki still do the football graveyard in their window during the season? I always enjoyed that when walking down College Ave.
I said this in another comment, but without a parking pass, your ONLY parking option on campus is the cash commuter lot on Prices Fork Road. It will fill up early too. Many Blacksburg residents will let you park at their house for a price. If you have any specific questions about what area you plan to be in just let us know and I'm sure someone can help you out.
