According to the Reddit thread, it's because Gucci Kroger used to be Harris Teeter, and has a different layout that requires more filler, hence things like that big wine area.

Literally every significant development in the game of football came about through someone first using it as a gimmick to gain an advantage. At one point, the forward pass was a gimmick.
For clarification, I don't think this is the wave of the future for football. But the word gimmick gets thrown around by football fans way too much. When you have all teams playing by the same rules with the same number of players, coaches will always look for different interpretations to find an advantage. Frank did it in the 90s when he put starters on special teams and gave way more practice time to that aspect of the game. People called it a gimmick, now all the successful programs are serious about ST.
The game evolves, and that evolution is driven by gimmicks.
Shouldn't be a problem from the looks and sounds of it. Still has three weeks to get ready. It's not game week so I'm pretty sure we'll be fine. I'd rather guys are a little cautious with injuries pre-season instead of aggravating them more and getting even worse closer to the season.
It was always referred to as Beer Kitty to me and my clan because that was about all it was good for.
I'm hoping this is just precaution because of how thin we are at DE. We all know that Dadi could get hit by a bus and still want to play.
Ha, I lived in Collegiate Suites for a couple years in undergrad so I was right across the street, but I still shopped at the UCB Kroger. Food Lion was always poorly lit and dirty, so I didn't feel comfortable buying food there. I'd pop over for beer and stuff, but never actual groceries. Is it still like that?
Much less distinction now since UCB Kroger was renovated a couple years back. Although no one I know used the Gucci/ghetto nomenclature. The S. Main location was "big Kroger" and the UCB was just Kroger.
I despise the Kroger on Main Street that everyone alleges is so nice. They are always - ALWAYS - out of stock of what I need. I go across town to the Food Lion that apparently isn't nice...

I was wondering which was which myself. I graduated in '98 and there were two Krogers. A small one on North Main St. just past Progress St. (according to Google Maps it is now a YMCA and a thrift store) and one near the University Mall, the post office, and Macado's. No wonder I am confused.
Someone mentioned that one used to be a Harris Teeter. The Harris Teeter on South Main opened while I was there.
I guess the only constant is change.
