No fires allowed during games!
Lucky enough to work in the sports industry, so there is literally a TV in every cubicle on Saturdays/Sundays. West coast time, so I actually really like the noon (ET) kickoffs. Gives me a little breakfast football.
It's gonna be a beautiful show
I stopped wearing jerseys years ago. I didn't wear them enough and I think they're overpriced.
However, I do have enough t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. to start my own store.
Would it not make more sense to reverse the orientation of both logos to make them easier to see on TV? Just going by the picture (that doesn't seem far removed from a normal TV angle), I can't even read the far logo that is right-side-up, but the upside-down near logo is readable. Seems like some marketing genius didn't think this one through.
So definitely believe Whit is one of the best hires we've made probably since promoting Bud Foster to DC. He gets it in every facet of the game. Loved his points about Beamer's coaching timeline and his views on recruiting. Great interview.
So reading between the lines, this is Beamers last year right?? /sarc
Well I already have a No. 1 jersey of Macho Harris days. Not a fan of it but I understand it.
That. Would. Be. Epic.
To me, the only time watching the game is exciting when you already know the outcome, is when it was a win and a good game. Much like I've watched the Ohio State game at least twice after the original watching of it.
I saw the "halftime: 56-3" in favor of tOSU prediction and laughed. I agree that that's just some butt hurt from last year. that's just fan talk, I see that stuff on all kinds of boards. Fans being fans.
I always thought the soccer version of the term was a reference to the ball going under the opposing player's "nuts". Then again, I was 12 when I learned the word.
Radio broadcast, or play by play on espn.com or app, or watch espn app.
I don't know how handy with html you are, but one way around it is to pull up the html (in chrome you can right click-inspect element), find the image or container for the ad, and delete it. Not ideal, but a decent work-around.
I've got several jerseys that I hand out on game day or when I take people to games. They already don't have names on them, but it would be nice if they could have different numbers. (For some reason, I've got a bunch of jersey's with the number '3'.) Does this mean I'll never get other numbers unless I customize one myself or go retro?
For me, the players don't own the numbers, and I think it's kind of dumb for everyone in the crowd to have to sport the same number.
Every jersey we sell should be #32, which should be a number that is given out as a weekly honor to the player deemed most worthy of wearing it for the game. (and the 32 yard line hash marks should be blacked out in Lane as well).
This gets us away from the issue of profiting off individual players and also is a meaningful tribute for our school.
Nutmeg is a ground spice, so I'm assuming it's somehow associated with "grinding down" or wearing them out. Would be interesting to hear the genesis of that phrase for real, though.

but I always pray for noon games
Is it bad that I instantly pictured you with a rosary praying to St. Weaver, patron of noon games? Am I going to hell now?
The media coverage (on this site) of this year's preseason has been stellar.
I'm really enjoying these articles, so keep up the good work.
Yeah, I meant the airlock/bung together, the bung pushes right out of the hole in the lid.
Probably no room for a thermowell in the bung, but I think I can rig something up in the plastic lid.
For the first time in 9 years of brewing I have a stuck fermentation. Ugh. Went hard for 2 days, then all activity stopped. Will be getting new yeast and making a new starter for it this week.

# | "Whit Babcock interview: Hokies' AD on Beamer's energy, recruiting, future" Article They have to because of where the game is going to avoid having to pay royalties to players. Luckily I still have my RMFW jersey that I sport on gamedays....

It's not optimal not to be able to watch it live, but DVR is the next best thing.
I've done it, and it does work, but you have to be careful to avoid TV or radio that loves to tell scores only when you don't want to hear them...
