I won't really use this as a example. I'm pretty sure this goes under the complete fail in recruiting.
Hand would have been an immediate starter, or should have been recruited that way (possible further fail), vs knowing he was 3rd team at Bama
Also Hand would have had the same popularity as previous 5* recruits Fuller and T Taylor
But Hand went to Bama, Land of Top Talent, where he isn't a starter or the face of the program.
As for how he's doing he's following previous NFL Draft Picks working his way to the Top, Considering this year he is behind A'Shawn Robinson, the 2016 NFL Draft's Top DT and a redshirt JR Dalvin Tomlinson, Probably Top NFL 2017 draft class
According to this link Alabama depth chart, he is 3rd string DE. Kirven is 2d string on the OL.

Not as well as Jonathan Allen.
I like the top 5 and agree with them. Hopefully Trey can get back to form. I think that would allow for the red-shirting of both Juice and shai. I would think extra time for them to heal up wouldn't hurt. Plus you always have them in reserve if someone goes down. But I think the Trey, JCC, and McMillian will be a good trio of backs.
As for Brewer, I think there is no doubt that he will be better. People tend to put all the interceptions on the QB because he's the one who threw the ball but I wonder how many were due to the receivers that were true freshman. But as stated he only had a fall camp to work on the plays and was then thrust into action. With a years more experience in the system along with the receivers I think their output has tremendous potential to be better. If it's not then we are in a bad place. I saw on College Football Live (I think) the other day that they were going through UNC's schedule and looking at who they thought were wins and losses for them. They gave UNC the win against us because of Michael Brewer. The failed to mention the things that I just stated however and really just said Brewer had a hard time grasping VT's offensive system. So whatever.
I'm most looking forward to a healthy and lethal Facyson though. I loved him his freshman year. I think he's every bit the player that Fuller is and can dominate that spot as well. If he hadn't been hurt there's no doubt that they would be the best cornerback duo in the country. Hope he gets back to form this year.

# | Special Edition of ESPN's College GameDay is Coming to Blacksburg on Labor Day Herbie is an OSU homeboy, and is never has a lot positive to say about VT, so I'm just as happy he's not there.
This is pretty much what my thoughts were when I saw he committed and was puzzled why VT wasn't a top contender. Foster & Wiles want athletes over sheer size, so I'm guessing we didn't target him much because he didn't have what we wanted. And from his commitment comments it sounded like he was pretty smitten with Chapel Hill [insert confused emoticon here].
I know, right. Because I loved the first one so much. Because I like complexity in plot. Because Colin Farrell has been really, really good. Because I've always had a crush on Rachel MacAdams (although that haircut is doing its best to tone down any attraction).
But it's not even the overcooked plot. The writing is horrific. And you could have expected that Vince Vaughn would be a struggle, but underrated in her awfulness is the actress who plays his wife (and her room-entering saunter! Swing those hips, my girl!)
Maybe I'm hoping it will come together the last 90 minutes. Maybe, like you put it, they gave us more of the conspiracy this time and it was too much, but that is a noble reason to overcook a plot to this extreme. Maybe we'll get to see that sad bar room singer again. No, wait, I don't want that.
He's a guy whose stock has dropped ever since he got rated the first time as a sophomore. It was anticipated that he would be a top 100 guy (hence the Bama, Auburn, OSU offers) but it never seemed to pan out. I believe that none of the other offers were committable.
That being said, he was long thought to be a UNC lean.
He's certainly a key player. He wasn't as ready as we might have liked when Chase Williams was injured and he was thrust in as a starter. Miami was his first start, and Duke Johnson was definitely a trial by fire.
He's a talented player, though, and I'm hoping his experience from last year will make him an improved contributor. The good thing is that he did get some starting experience last year. Otherwise, he'd STILL be in this position, but without that additional experience.
You better believe Ohio State is going to test him. If he's a step late, he'll be toast.

I see what you're saying and admire your commitment to the show. They certainly did pull up more of the curtain on this one. Maybe that's what defines the utter failure of the show, it was just too much detail for an 8-show arc. Waayyyy toooo much.
This show has been so bad that it may be watched in the future as parody of the genre. It will be a drinking game when you have to remember a minor character from 5 episodes before just because they are now a prime player. Watch, this week, that movie set photographer with his 90 seconds of previous screen time will reappear as the mastermind of the entire initial murder. Wisky. Tango. Foxtrot.

His offer list is expansive with every local program and most east of the Mississippi that are top teams offering him. Seems lien UNC might be a good fit if he committed to them.
For my own curiosity, for the amount of disdain you have expressed for the show....why watch it?
I feel like this season took the same form as last season, but then went one level up so to speak.
What I mean by that is last year, the 2 detectives started off investigating the Dora Lange case, and ended up uncovering a greater conspiracy involving some powerful men in the state (Rev. Tuttle, etc.)
But by the end of the season, beyond interacting with a handful of said people, the gran conspiracy itself really had not be unraveled. Now perhaps it is implied that it will be, given that they found "Carcosa" and the evidence that Rust had collected/videos/etc.
In this season I feel like we get the same setup, a few detectives investigating a case that leads them to a greater conspiracy. Except this time, we are getting to see the conspiracy in its entirety. Caspere's death has really taken a back seat to the bigger picture, as finding his killer or killers at this point has really taken a back seat. It remains to be seen if by the end it gets wrapped up, but I think it has certainly gotten stronger episode to episode.
OMG that's depressing to read. The plot has been a clusterfuck from the start. Actually listing it out makes it even worse. Reminds me of the Fantastic Mr. Fox line: "That's just bad song-writing, Petey!" Modified to "That's just bad story-telling, Pizzolatto!"
It's almost over! We did it! We survived what will likely be Nic Pizzolatto's last show!
