You don't know what happened, so I wouldn't be so sure about that just yet.
In some ways it helps the family aspect. If he wasn't liked or didn't fit in and left then it could make the guys left closer.
I don't think that's true. IF you're family, you accept family regardless of how different they are. If you can't fit in, it's more like a club / frat mentality than family.
But yes, to thine own self be true -- but if "family" doesn't like it, then you have to question if they truly were your family in the first place.
I don't necessarily agree with him here, but let's not downvote the guy.

Raymond minor is still a r-fr and then have carson lydon and tremaine Edmunds (if he sticks there) as incoming true freshmen. LB isn't too bad currently IMO.
I like that guys work. Very subtle jokes. I don't do subtle. Or high quality.
I think we will be a bit better passing this year than last. Losing a starting WR and two H Backs will hurt, no doubt about it, but this year we will have an experienced starter at QB and some good players in Brown, Samuel, and Miller so I think you'll see more passing that you think. Smith was expected to be our deep guy so that adds a new wrinkle to what we need to do. I suspect more passes to the TE then we may have seen otherwise. At least we have 5 weeks to prepare and get plan B into place and we'll have to rely more heavily on players that would have been rotational guys had we not had this happen.
Bosa's loss hurts. Whoever takes his spot won't have the same impact unless something unexpected happens.
Impact? I see this as a 3 - 6 point game right now given the uncertainty. I think we still win, but it's going to be close barring a breakout performance or collapse by either team.
Josh Jackson is a top notch qb recruit? Lawson I can agree with.
Plus we play in Greenville every other year FOREVER
For those in the Mark Richt boat please note he had zero college football head coaching experience before taking the Georgia job but was a successful OC at fsu. Why would we think Bud would not have the same success?
Yeah, most of the time but I will certainly be out to network with other brewers as well.

Personally, I was probably already over confident prior to the suspensions, lol
Several of the recruits in last year's class have been mentioned as possible WRs plus we are very young at that position as it is. Most of the OTs you are claiming are better suited as OGs but are at OT because we are so thin there. As for the DEs gaines and hill are the only ones from last year's class that I think stick at that position, we just lost keihn and mihota is still going to be a DT eventually.
That statement wasn't necessarily about criteria, just stating my opinion. But he's shown the ability to adapt in-game, over the season, and through the offseason, which is what I think it will take for VT to get to the next level. It was an article several years old, but it's about Bud and being a HC and the guy has a plan in place for when he does get a HC gig - even down to dining plans.

I truly understand that perspective and there is sound logic behind it. I have trust in Whit to do the right thing also but I also do not expect a losing Season in football. That is a risk and I know we have to take risks to move higher in the football world but at the same time they need to be calculated. My math=Bud Foster.
If it doesn't work out we tried and time to move on.
Most important thing is WRs...particularly tall and/or fast. And it's not even close. Tech didn't get any receivers in the '15 class, but got 3 OTs and 2DEs.
After that is OL (and possibly OGs more than OTs). Then DEs & LB.
Yeah, I'm always reminded of what prompted me to write this blog post after the game.
But thinking back, maybe he was more upset about Michigan?

Should that really be our criterion? I think we should look forward, not back. Foster has served us well, but in terms of HC, I'll be judging him on what he offers for the future, not what we owe him.
The criterion for the new head coach at Virginia Tech is "can they take VT football to the next level?"
It's premature to say that this staff can do that.
There needs to be clear progress in terms of winning and recruiting by this staff (and donations by the community) before you can advocate keeping this staff or Foster as HC. Continuity is great, but it will get you similar results to what VT is already getting.
The next HC at Virginia Tech needs to be able to convincingly put forward a plan to get VT consistently in the top 15. They're not going to get there if they're in the middle of ACC recruiting, in spite of all the success they've had in the past two decades.
I'm open to the idea of Bud as HC, but I'm not yet sold on it.
