Yea he's around 170. He was used sparingly because of others ahead of him. I would imagine he'd have an increased role, like the slot. I have a good number of UGA friends so I catch more of their games than I'd like.

True. Isn't he like 160 or something? He may have trouble cracking the 2 deep until he can take the punishment. I really don't know what GA has in terms of WR so he may be more productive.
I am so hoping he finally gets to contribute like we have been hoping the last 3 years.
As with most of our issues the last few years, Special Teams have also suffered from the recruiting slump. Beamer started the idea of playing starters on ST. But at the time we had better depth. Without that depth, the idea of starters getting hurt and/or worn out and tired became a real issue. With some depth, the starters get some rest on some non-ST plays. Without it, the starters have to stay on the field more. The second 'Bama game was the perfect example of how this hurt us. One of the Beamers even admitted that they knew their starters could hang with Bama, but they were wary of them getting worn down as the game went on, so you saw back-ups and walk-ons on ST instead of a lot of starters. Unfortunately, when the recruiting falls off, the quality and experience of those back-ups falls with it. Fortunately, as the recruiting has picked up, the special teams will pick-up with it. We saw that last year with guys like Reavis and Stroman having huge impacts on returns, blocks, and coverage.
Thanks for posting those stats. Return improvement would be nice but I want the Buckeys to earn very yard on long fields against our D. To me, that's the only way we keep this close. Give them short fields and we will not fare well.
No Grub I am not kidding. That was his first game as r for and did extremely well. The fumbled punt return was a fluke back breaker. He didn't get the touches that DE would have gotten (Hite) and therefore wasn't afforded the opportunity imo to properly torch the Bama D. If we had TT, DE and RW in the back field as a rotation or 1-2 punch whatever you want to call it, I believe the outcome is different. Imeho.

A 10 percent chance the Buckeyes could lose" Yeah, I'll be honest - I didn't think there was any way in Hades VT would go into Ohio Stadium and win last year. It doesn't happen unless you are USC, Texas, or the like. I knew VT had talent and great coaching, but not enough to pull that off. A close game, maybe, but they aren't coming out with a win - until they did. Then they had my full respect. :)
There's that old saying, "winning solves everything". Well, it won't fix your marriage, but it will turn disrespect into respect - even if it's given grudgingly - as it often is by CFB fans. But when it comes to VT, I give willingly.
so did I. Then I realized that if they did join, they'd probably end up in the coastal to uphold of our pre-existing "rivalry" FML

Totally agree these uniforms are incredible. Babcock did mention in his interview with Andy Bitter they were considering adding some black to the color regimen. I think it's killer.

So the championship game is basically first round of the playoffs except you'll know the pool from which your opponent will get pulled ahead of time. Of course the problem with this is you'd never get more than one team per conference into the playoffs. Which, at 8 teams, would be an expectation for some of the more competitive conferences.
But if we're re-aligning everything, we could just make sure each division is half P5 schools and half G5 schools to spread out the good teams. And 5 years later we'll have the same problem again as some schools improve and others tank.

At that point, the focus would be on the division you were in, and would almost have to be viewed as two 8 team conferences allied together.
But by the time we got up to 16 team conferences, you'd have to take a different look at conference identity anyway. After all, right now the ACC is more of a merger between the old ACC and old Big East rather than any expansion.

They spent a ton to elevate their program, got into the Big East when the Big East was a thing...but were left behind and now have big-boy expenses but not revenues. Whoops.
Interesting you should mention "Texas, or the like." I felt that same way when we went to our first Sugar Bowl. Man, first time in New Orleans, first big bowl game for me, I felt honored to just be there. Even the arrogance of some of the Texas fans didn't make me get too high on winning down there, even though I knew we had a really good football team that was hitting on all cylinders. But after that first half, knowing how our defense was playing and how they had just gotten better late in games, I was infused with a sublime feeling of confidence that was proven to be justified. I had always respected our team, just didn't have the historical precedent in mind to feel confident in beating Texas. Damn, it was Texas, for goodness sake!
This just goes to show you that VT has a chance these days of beating anyone, and regardless of being up or down, are not to be taken lightly by opponents, pundits or fans on either side of the ball.
