Rich guy funding baseball or rich guy growing the endowment. Basically wahoo Olympic Sports are at a greater advantage because they have more financial backing in the form of available scholarship money. Read the article it makes a lot of sense. In the case of UVA Baseball they not only have the endowment for help but they also had huge private donations. So they are at an even greater benefit. This isn't just something that I made up or thought of. Came from the article and is supported by fact. Anybody that played a D1 non-revenue sport in college would have a lot of insight on how scholarships are awarded. If VT can only provide you a 50% scholarship but, UVA can provide you 75%, most people are going to go play for UVA. VT is at a disadvantage. The article interviews the VT pitching coach and he explains the disadvantage VT has compared to competing schools (i.e. UNC, UVA, etc).
Ah, we can wish him well but not Miami!

I would say Whitehead was towards the top of this class. He may not have had the "stars", but he did have an offer from Ohio St and a few other Big Ten schools. Getting him from their territory was nice and his film was as impressive of anyone outside of Settle and Lawson.
Yep, that was good to see. I hope Eric listens, his film was very impressive and would be great to have on the Dline the next few years. I hope he and Adonis both makes it to Blacksburg tho and do well.
Yeah, opponents had an average net punting of ~36 ypp while VT averaged ~38 ypp and we were 43rd in punting efficiency. So we gained on exchanges of punts, just not as much as other ACC teams, which had several excellent punters last year.
Yeah, but Johnson had nothing close to the same issues. It seemed like he just had an overall general lack of talent, IIRC. I mean, on top of being something of an @ssdouche. But yes, your point still stands. None of this matters until we actually play the game.

I think I've read where there will be some flashforwards (which is more accurate I think) this year too.
I think that the first episode of season 1 was far more nebulous than season 2's opener. However, SO FAR, I'm a little less intrigued this season than after the opening episode last season.
But it's still just game 1 of a long season...
We were saying the same things last year about how screwed Paul johnson was.... Let's wait to see if Miami flops on the field before we discuss him being fired.
