Tough to get back regularly from LoCo and the rest of NOVA.
My father always takes us on an exotic vacation for christmas. we dont do presents, just a large family trip. So far we have been to Mexico (exotic...haha) a couple times, and The Commonwealth of Dominica, and planning on Iceland this coming winter. On our second trip to Mexi-land, I was wearing a shirt with a rather large VT on the front and a hokie on the back. When we got to the resort, two eastern europeans (i think) came up and looked extremely excited and said that their grandaughter went to VT. Later on the trip I saw the momma with a VT visor on and raised my glass of bourbon in salutation...she winked back.
You're damn right. And my GPA reflects that.
Improved? Yes. Played hard? Generally, yes. Better run blockers? Definitely better than 2012.
But unfortunately -- as McShay righty points out -- still neither sure-handed, explosive, nor dependable even fairly late in the season. With so few strengths, it was hard to hide the flaws. I'm glad Morehead sticks up for his guys, but you can bet he and Loeffler AND the opposing defensive coaches were fully aware of these deficiencies.
Hopefully, with some additional experience and a new body or two, they'll be able reduce and hide the flaws better in 2014.

If attendance "for basketball games has been dropping over the past five seasons", I truly apologize. The first year and a half of that drop off are my fault. I can't stand basketball, but I will always support orange and maroon no matter what the cost. I only attended two Hokie hoops games as a student and I regret not supporting my alma mater more. I have tried mercilessly to get back to another game in recent years, but to no avail. I am so glad that a post like this was written. Everyone is allowed to have their favorite sport, but success at every level is what is important.

Agreed on just about everything. As much as I don't like the guy anymore, I do have to admit that he has a place at the table when you talk about the all time great announcers, the guys that were, at least for a time, a primary voice of college football (at least, in the booth).
However, I do think he is about even the whole game. That only happens, however, when it's Ohio State or USCw on the field. I also think he is passionate about the game, but his passion is outdated. One of those years where Boise was really really good, I can recall him saying something along the lines of, "Boise will never ever deserve to go to the MNC because they don't play an SEC schedule. Doesn't matter how many times everyone else loses". I flipped my lid at that antiquated opinion.
Another thing I hate as a student and Cassell Guard general is the whole label of Hokie Respect. Sure it sounds good and creates a safe family environment but I personally hate it. Simply put if we bring a sign that has anything that could be interpreted as demeaning towards a player,school, or an idea we aren't allowed in the stadium. They are too worried that it might show up on a tv broadcast and take away from the university brand. For example in the newsletter we put on the chairs for the home games we were told we couldn't put a direct quote from the UNC website that said why P.J. Hairston was kicked off the team under our "players to watch out for" section. If you can't even make a joke about a player who is dismissed for violating NCAA regulations its easy to see how students have lost interest in the program.

No what I meant was that I think Thomas will be surprising people in less than a few years. I think he'll shock all the doubters and haters within his first or second year.

Well it is finally over and it ended as it usually did this year, missed free throws and shots down the stretch. Now, the question will be, who is the next coach?

I would lean towards No if we trust Whit to bring in a ACC Caliber head coach. If JJ was the primary reason they were coming to Tech maybe. Other points that impact the three incoming recruits:
Who is the replacement? Do they run a similar style of basketball? Can we even claim that JJ has a defined style yet?
Were they recruited by an assistant coach? Did they stay on staff with JJ gone?
Does the kid have better offers waiting in the wings?
All in all I think the three right now will likely stay with Tech.
Not sure what Gettelman(sp) is doing but I'm thinking he has a plan...something tells me that Rivera signed off on them cutting Smith too....I don't know what my Cowboys are doing
If Vick becomes a Jet there will be the issue of #7... Geno Smith wears #7... its nearly impossible to imagine MV without a #7. What will happen?
Sharks as I recall was only a long time professor or army officer I believe. While a dedicated hokie he was not a medal recipient. My favorite stories are of Gregory, Femoyer, and Monteith.
You think we lose any recruits if JJ is replaced...

I'm willing to agree with him about the BC game. Charley Meyer had a couple of drops that killed drives when he came in for the Paper Boy. If Byrn was still in, we may have won that game.
