"Here, I'll keep maintaining the pipeline as long as you offer this kid a scholarship." I can see how one can argue that this is helping that individual kid who otherwise might not have gotten the offer, but what in the world are we doing to the system if we allow such things to happen? That's essentially negotiating over players by using other players as bargaining chips.

i loved brandon flowers. he delivered so many huge hits from the corner position. i loved the 2007 defense. adibi, hall, ellis, flowers, harris. that d was just scary good.
To be fair, we were better at shooting the ball all the way up until OT started (but then the wheels fell off... 0/13??? Are you kidding me???)
It seemed like both teams were content with burning clock, which explains why the score was so low. But yes, either our D played well, or Pitt's O played bad, because otherwise they still would have shot 50% or more like most of our opponents.

# | Read and React: "National Signing Day: Cavs' Mike London looks beyond high school coaches to cultivate Virginia Beach pipeline" If this group was really performing a mentor role and looking out for the best interests of the kids in their "program", they would ensure that EVERY FBS/FCS coach willing to offer a scholarship was given EQUAL access to their kids.
Actually, you could make a fairly strong case that by aligning themselves with a particular school, they are improving the odds of their borderline FBS talent receiving an offer from that school.
The elite talent in the Thoroughbred program are going to play regardless. Having London know that he is more likely to get the top notch players by accepting the less talented ones, the Thoroughbred coaches are actually looking out for their players.

# | Who is your FAVORITE Hokie Defensive player of all time and why? So many possibilities. My favorite has to be Darryl Tapp. That guy was in on so many big plays and was rewarded with two First-Team All-ACC selections for it. He was a hard hitter with a heck of a motor. I also just liked how he played the game. He would annihilate the opponent, but so many times I saw that he was the first to offer him a hand up at the end of the play.
Bruce Smith.
He contributed greatly to the start of this whole wonderful run with VT football and Beamer.
College All-American.
#1 draft pick.
Played in multiple superbowls.
NFL hall of famer.
Contributes to his alma mater and serves as an ambassador publically.

So many. Macho, Corey Moore...Cornell...
But my favorite defensive player is Bud Foster. Hands down.

# | Bitter blog - Would you rather see a 9-game ACC schedule or a yearly ACC-SEC matchup? I have a few question for how the ACC/SEC deal would work:
-will all of the teams that don't have current SEC rivals get a permanent rival or rotate?
-will the teams that have a rival care that they don't get to rotate?
-how will this affect games like the Chick-fil-a Kickoff? I'm sure one advantage to ACC/SEC would be the home and home aspect.
But, the ACC is going to have to do something with that ninth game. If the ACC and SEC are going to be the only two conferences under 9 conference games, then that means there are fewer teams to choose from for non-conference games.

If, as a fan, you think that your ticket allows you have a right to verbally abuse a competitor, then find a different sport, venue.

Because before the ACC expanded, all of those teams between Virginia and Boston were the Big East. Maryland was the northern most team in the ACC.
Let's look at the annual games for VT back in the Big East days:
Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, Miami, Rutgers, WVU, Temple, UVA (OOC)
And the annual games for VT in "ACC North":
Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, UVA, Louisville, one NC school
Four are exactly the same, and we lose the one annual game that we actually didn't mind keeping from the Big East (Miami).
But let's look at it from UVA's point of view (yeah, I know, shudder to think like a Wahoo). The "ACC North" would not be much different for them than if they had defected to the Big East in 2002.
If we changed conferences to upgrade our prestige, then how does it get upgraded when we get surrounded by the same teams that we left behind?
And I don't know why the other sports are being mentioned, since they've never been affected by football divisions, and this is a football discussion.
