This made me really excited, and then I remembered it's the Redskins, and I'd hate for Ky. Fuller to have to be on such a drama-filled team/town.
And I'm a Redskins fan.
Maybe...maybe they were all doing homework and discovered that they had another assignment they had to do as well?

So in the meantime, them going to court about how they're being charged too much money to leave the program is costing them how much money, exactly?
The thought process is that a down year is direct result of misusing money. If the program is misusing it, then (as a donor), I should keep it for myself and do something else that makes me happy. The other way of looking at it is that, as a donor, one must 'punish' the program for misusing one's money. Rather than a struggling plant, these people see the program as a kid with car keys. If your son is misusing the car, then it would make sense to give him more responsibility?
I think some people also view their donation as an investment, and want a return on that investment. And let's be honest, noon kick offs and games against ECU aren't exactly huge returns.
That being said, I agree with you. Some of my best weekends as a student included road trips to FedEx Field, Atlanta and Charlotte. A potential loss has NEVER dissuaded me from attending a game, buying merchandise from the school, etc. After reading everyone's posts in this forum, I plan to start donating to the school... As soon as I figure out how to do so.
I second what is said about UMD trying to be a PITA and hopes to get out with a deal. The only point that's really contentious in looking over most of UMD's arguments so far is what level of exit fee is Economically viable vs Economically Prohibitive. They are going to try to prove that by raising the Fee from $20 million to $50 million, the ACC effectively made it not economically feasible for a university to actually remove itself. UMD did vote against the upgrade to $50 mil when it was put to a vote, but it still passed. They will point to the fact that even before the exit fee, UMD was already in the process of shuttering nine of its varsity sports due to lack of available funding and that the additional $30 million would effectively shutter all but the football and mens basketball programs. UMD would then still have to find two-three women's sports to keep due to Title IX requirements. UMD realistically is hoping the end state is that they get out paying only the $20 million, which they can recoup from membership in the Big 10 in about five years time. The $50 mil would be a backbreaker for about 15 years. The judge will likely dismiss this new countersuit pretty quickly but UMD would then have the right to appeal, etc.
Lets just say its not overly fantastic. But other than Brady Taylor, Tech is still the best team on each of the other fab 5s offer list. This late in the year it would be unlikely they would find a better option.
3 of them tweeted (within the last half hour) something along the lines of "This sucks" or ":(" so I'm thinking they're not too happy.
Just curious, but is anybody monitoring the Twitter accounts of our 2014 OL recruits? If so, can you gather what they may be thinking about this situation?
That's why some people make huge donations to their schools. Keep it out of the IRS's hands and you get a bitchin seat and parking spot.
You were close to touching on where I was going earlier with wondering how the school tracks merchandise sales and what it credits them towards. Being able to shop through the school for Hokie Merchandise and having it contribute some percentage towards your HC status would be a nice way to credit people for still benefiting the school for something other than just straight donations.

Agreed -perhaps someone can take a summary from this and could present/forward on to someone within the administration that works with/on the Hokie Club in order to offer positive, critical feedback, and ultimately growth. Hey, the worst we could do is spawn a financial juggernaut.
Not sure why I'm so wrapped up in this -I've raised money for granola-crunching advocacy shiznut and this doesn't seem like rocket science to me...
No -the "products" offered to purchase suck, the emblem needs a reboot and even the site makes any desire to purchase something fleeting. Jeezus people, put some grad-student/interns up in there and say "go crazy and make this site explode with some wolf-knife-lazer-torch-badassedness... no pussy touchdowns!" to market the site/memberships. Hell, make purchases "points" toward your Hokie Club standing...

If you are saying we might not lose Grimes and Taylor...well, thats kind of naive. There certainly is a chance we lose both.
At least Taylor, he visits OSU and thats his dream school.
