Does it help the local economy if I click local? I always go with the Roanoke link...
Great writeup! I'm 99.9% sure I'm not going to the game, but it does look like flights from DC are fairly reasonable (based on a very quick search). So I know that boarder towns in the southwest are not a good place to visit, but are there any places in Mexico in that area that are safe? I've been to Mexico once before (Cozumel, so the Americanized Mexico), but I think it would be interesting to visit "real" Mexico.
Excellent write up. After having been stationed in Colorado Springs (6,000+ ASL) I second what she said about the elevation challenges. If possible I'd recommend getting there a day or two earlier before you start drinking to get acclimatted as elevation changes effect people differently. You may expeirence headaches, shortness of breath, tightness of the chest etc etc. One bene though is it doesn't take as much to get drunk! Also, the wind, yeah that shit's for real. Fronts blow through the passes and mountains like a freaking hurricane! Have fun, be safe, and don't travel alone if you can help it. Human traffiking is alive and well, especially in a border town.
Shai announces in 8 days. At this point I would be shocked if he weren't a Hokie. Keihn is considered to be a strong Tech lean as well.
Here's context.

I ended up driving back for the Sugar Bowl and going with friends. No more driving across Texas for me ever again.
Agreed. Saban is the man, and he is not opposed to being paid for it. It actually is a part of his validation. Getting a huge salary (the biggest in NCAA) is just as delicious to him as winning it all because it shows that he has been crowned the best in the business. Nothing wrong with that. He would also relish the chance to win at a third school, because again, it proves that he is a maul sack.
I am not ashamed to admit that I did that on purpose.
Ah wedded bliss...
YOU BOYS LIKE MEXICO?!
See you in Juarez!! It's cool, I'm a lawyer.
(I'm going to neither El Paso nor Juarez. Please do not give my name to the federales when all of you are undoubtedly arrested and/or detained at the border.)
My mom tried to make me want to go to UVA, despite the fact that my sister was already at Tech and I had made it clear I planned on joining her there. Mom dragged me down for a visit to Hooville my junior year of high school and got pissed afterwards when she asked how I liked it and I was honest. She STILL brings it up (seriously, last week, 16 years later) how I wasted her day like I didn't tell her beforehand I wasn't going there and there was no point to visit.
Luckily, I took it as a life lesson and got early exposure to the revisionist history that some wives use in arguing. Or at least MY wife does that like a champ.
Thank you. I must be the last person to learn that Bucky Hodges is a TE. All this time I thought he was going to be pushing Leal for the starting QB job. Of course, I heard a rumor on ESPN that Logan Thomas played a little TE in high school... :-)
I have a feeling I will be yelling that's right Marshawn Lynch a couple times this upcoming year.. then calm down and realize i meant Williams.. I hope he wears #24 that would be soo sick to see.
He would have been a legend at UAB. Just sayin.
Thanks, now I'm picturing Mr. Bean running the point for last year's Hokies and suddenly our record makes more sense.
Also, super excited about Ben. I think he's going to end up the best of the freshman, but I also see Wilson developing into a quality point guard once he gets some experience. Asking him to come in and run the show right away hopefully won't adversely affect his confidence. You can see the talent in spurts, he's just too young and inexperienced to put it all together right away.
I think there are some parents that make sure their kids go to UVA.
I mean really, what school could a kid named Blake Blaze go to and not get beat up?
I will be seriously disappointed if we miss out on Citizen Keihn.
Question last night at Trivia....
The question: what nfl player has the nickname "beast mode?"
my answer: Marshawn Williams
fail. but winning.
Foster AND Moorhead?
They're serious about this guy.
Well, Urban better get some shitty stadium pizza ready for after that game, s'all I'm sayin.
This guy is TOUGH. And it looks like he can laterally jump like 4 feet...so shifty!
Plus, he is a lifelong Hokies fan - what more could we ask for?
This kid has a lot going for him. Drive and a love for HN is one, that'll get you a long way motivationally.
His hip moves that make a tackler slide off are fantastic.
I am very impressed with the balance and footwork that let's him make those big lateral movements while going downfield.
I also note his HB is good at making key blocks.
Don't forget R.C. Willenbrock and BLAKE BLAZE who are real people that attempt to play the foosball at UVA and who also must be hated by their parents.

I put both of them so A) I don't have to hear my bosses complain that I favor one site too much, and B) I don't have to hear people complain about the paywall popping up for Norfolk.
