This might be slightly off topic here...but if Duke pulls the upset against FSU, it could be possible for FSU to miss the BCS. More than likely, the Sugar and Fiesta Bowls will be stuck with the American champ and non-AQ teams (since it looks like NIU will be ranked high enough). So, the only at-large spot for FSU would be in the Orange Bowl. Except that Duke would already be in the game and I don't think the OB would want an ACC title game rematch.
Perhaps there is a chance that the Sugar Bowl might take FSU as the SEC replacement if the Tigers get backed into the national title game.

If I understand the BCS selection process correctly, the Orange Bowl will likely have the 1st and 3rd picks. Assuming FSU and OSU go to the MNC, they'll receive the first pick to replace FSU, the Rose Bowl would receive the next pick to replace OSU, and then they would get the next pick because it's their turn in the rotation. The Sugar Bowl will get the SEC champion and I wouldn't be surprised if the Orange Bowl takes an SEC team with one of their picks, so that makes it pretty likely IMO that Clemson ends up playing one of the top SEC teams.

I checked the BCS bowls since they added the fifth bowl and the SEC started their run, and there's only been a couple of times that the replacement teams weren't from the same conference. The Sugar Bowl has picked an SEC team every year except for 2011, since the national title game had 2 SEC teams.
The Rose Bowl will try to protect the Big Ten/Pac-12 matchup. When TCU got to the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago, it was because the RB was required to take the non-AQ team in the first year that one of their teams made the national title game.
In 2009, when Texas went to the title game, the Fiesta Bowl went with both non-AQ teams instead of another Big 12 team, probably because none were ranked high enough. In terms of records and rankings, the ACC is probably closer to the Big 12 than the SEC, so who knows what could happen.
All I know is that the Orange Bowl has had ratings and ticket sales problems, because they usually get stuck with subpar matchups. There have been several years where the ACC champ is the lowest ranked champ, and then the OB gets stuck with the last pick of the at-larges. This year, they have the first pick of the at-large, so they shouldn't run into those problems.

I was so happy that CBS decided to play the Auburn homer network people on some of the replays. I was in the car listening to XM when they were reviewing the time on the clock but then I got home just in time to see it live. The homer networks always have the best calls.
That changed tonight. UCLA beat UNC so it will be UCLA vs UVA and Tech vs FSU. There will be a conference call on monday and they will set the times and other details then.

I believe the arrangements are only valid unless the team is chosen for the BCS Championship. At that point it reverts to an at-large slot. Orange could prefer to take an ACC team, but they don't necessarily have to if FSU goes to the championship.
If the Orange does take Clemson, then I'm on record here -- VT goes to Atlanta. I just don't see the Chick Fil A selecting Miami or Duke over VT (because of fan support/ticket sales).
I don't know the rule (if there is one), but I thought the ACC agreement with the Orange Bowl required that the Orange Bowl take an ACC team....so, if FSU is in the BCS Championship game, then that would mean Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
Is that not how the ACC-Orange Bowl agreement works?
I'm thinking the Orange Bowl would keep an ACC team for political reasons and Clemson at 10-2 is good enough. Then they get first at large pick, so they'll take the highest ranked team not already spoken for, which could be Alabama.
