Gotta love how Foster doesn't even know the kids name...yet he is still pulling for the kid!
She was just at the LSU game in the stands with McCarron's mom...so they are still together.
This is one classy commercial....
Since the blog has some great ladies that participate I am opting to not show such a graph here. Even if I did just make it and it's awesome.
When it comes to some of these elite players, at least recently, it seems like it breaks down to two different trains of thought.
1) "I want to play for a school that will do the best job developing and showcasing my talents for my 'pro audition' by giving me a chance to play in some of the biggest games of the college football season (i.e. the NC)
This is why high end SEC schools, certain Pac 12 schools, Ohio St. etc will always bring in big time talent.
2) "I want to play at a place where I can be part of turning the program in the direction of getting to play in some of the biggest games of the college football season."
This is the mentality of kids that go to places like LOLUVA, but seriously why even schools that historically have been nothing special can get Top 5-10 type guys (great example - Green-Beckham kid that was #1 overall a few years ago and went to Mizzou)
To me, Virginia Tech seems like the kind of place that can satisfy BOTH of those. Granted, I am not a beast high school football player so I can't speak for exactly what drives their decisions, but they seem to fall in those two camps more often than not. But (at least defensively) is a place where you can learn, develop, and excel, and I feel like the offensive side of the ball will be heading in that direction over the next few years. But its also a program that is nationally "relevant enough" in the scheme of things to put itself in a position to be in BIG TIME games with the right talent on board
I see what you did there
"I cannot understand why those kids would choose to verbal with a 2 win UVA program, rather than bring their defensive talents to THE BUD."
...and the answer is The Virginia Thoroughbreds 7 on 7, 'coached' by Mr. Corwin Cutlers classy dad.

Excellent work guys. I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say that if the offense doesn't come out the way they played against Miami, I'll be thoroughly disappointed. Especially since it's a lesser opponent.
Does anyone see a role for Joel Caleb in the offense right now, other than depth?
POUND THE ROCK! Go Hokies!
Yeah, insulting him makes you look really big and bad and gives a GREAT image of our fanbase as well, regardless of whether he deserved it. Personal attacks just aren't justifiable.
I didn't realize he ended up as BC's all time leading scorer...seriously.
Interesting read. I think Mark Wahlberg might star in a movie about this guy.
Steve Aponavicius is an American football kicker. In 2009, he became the leading scorer in the history of Boston College's football program.[1] A left-footed soccer convert, Aponavicius made his career debut against nationally ranked Virginia Tech on October 12, 2006 and successfully kicked two field goals and two extra points in the Eagles 22-3 victory.[2]
Aponavicius never played competitive football before coming to Boston College. Growing up, Aponavicius played baseball and soccer in Easton, Pennsylvania, a city known for its high school football. He was an avid member of the "Rover Nation" student cheering section at Cottingham Stadium, where the Easton Area High School Red Rovers played football.
As a freshman at Boston College in fall of 2005, Aponavicius began kicking field goals inside Alumni Stadium where he was spotted by Jay Civetti, a Graduate Assistant in the program. Civetti informed Aponavicius the team was currently looking for kickers and offered the special teams coach's contact information. After a brief one-kick tryout, Aponavicius began practicing with the team. His sophomore year, when starting placekicker Ryan Ohliger was suspended from the team for an incident at a local bar, Aponavicius was given the starting nod for a Thursday night matchup against Virginia Tech in front of a packed crowd of 44,500. Aponavicius' success as a walk-on kicker for Boston College gained him the nickname "Sid Vicious" and drew extensive press coverage and comparisons to the famed Notre Dame walk-on "Rudy."[3][4][5][6]
He ended his dream-like season in 2006 with a game-winning 37-yard field goal to defeat Navy in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.[7][8] Aponavicius finished the season as the team's leading point scorer, amassing 48 points. He was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
He dropped out of college for a time, but returned to Boston College in 2009.[9] As a fifth-year senior, he became the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Boston College football program.[10][11] At the time, Boston College coach Frank Spaziani said, "To drop out of the student body and come in here, and after a lot of hard work and a lot of time and energy, to become the all-time leading scorer that's a great accomplishment that he can be very proud of. And we're very, very happy for him."
Probably a downvote for personal insults for a person I don't think any one of us actually knows. If you don't like him as a football player, than criticize him as such. When things get personal on an anonymous board where people trash someone they don't know, I think others see that as inappropriate.
They have four guys wearing #98. That can't be legal!
CJ Reavis is one of our largest recruiters - maybe he'll be able to swing some decisions, especially the kids that verballed to LOLUVA - I cannot understand why those kids would choose to verbal with a 2 win UVA program, rather than bring their defensive talents to THE BUD.
I just want to thank everyone again who donated (25% in less than 48 hours!).
I'll try to not be annoying with this in the future but I'll casually update until I hit 1k.
Very nice, sir. Terrific find! I took a piece of the maroon and orange paint from the endzone after the BC win.
Insulting Journell certainly isn't going to hurt anyone either...I say have at it if it makes you feel better.
I think people are salty because of the potential of this particular recruiting year, especially with prospective in Virginia. According to Rivals, there are 11 4/5-star prospects in VA this year, 7 who are on the defensive side of the ball.
As of now, only two have signed with Tech (Reavis, Walker) and only one is seriously considering going (Nnadi). Three have signed with (IMHO) better programs (Hand- 'Bama, Holmes- OSU, Eberle- FSU), three fell for Mike London's antics (Blanding, Brown, Moss) and I'm not sure what Henderson and Kamara are thinking.
People are salty because there was so much potential for having a dominant recruiting class, especially on defense. In 2016, we could have potentially have nothing but 4 and 5 stars in our starting 11 on defense. To the casual Tech fan, the reason why we aren't a national-championship contender is because we can't recruits 4/5 star studs consistently.
I'm happy with what we got and frankly, I think its a really good class considering we went 7-6 last year. Let Lefty, Grimey, Stiney, Morey and Beamy (just go with it) do their job with these recruits and I'm confident will be competent on both sides of the ball in the next half-decade.
Typical Maryland: they like to claim every color as "their" color, just like they claim everyone to be their "rival"
Gazuntite.
(And yeah, him.)
Old South End Zone with "Doinky" Scoreboard from 2000

North Endzone Pre-Bleachers (1998):

17 downvotes for this? Alot of Journell fans on this board I guess?
You downvoters are crazy...he is a cancer and we are better off without this loser.
Why would I want to? Why should we have to?
Seriously, Journell made his own decisions, he let down the team....repeatedly. This has NOTHING to do with anything that any of us did in our twenties.
Lets stop making excuses for this dipshit.
I didn't realize there were any other aspects...wait, what were they selling again???

I was right there with you then. I got a nice big ole piece of turf that day.
I was a couple of feet from the goal post when it came down too!
