As a student?

The best moment would be Tyrod to Coale vs. Nebraska...
Best overall game would be Miami in the rain in '09 I believe it was.

Logan's run up the middle against Miami in '11 was absolutely epic...probably tied with Tyrod to Coale but i was alumni status.

2004 vs WVU. So many WVU fans were there for they were top ten ranked. They were walking all over campus before the game shouting F the Hokies and acting like typical WVU trash. When the game was over the North Endzone rushed the field and ran straight to their section in the south endzone to chant Lets Go Hokies. Their fans starting tossing any cups or trash they could find at us.

If the parameters weren't "while i was a student" I would say Miami 03 (attended as a senior in high school) or the Miracle in Blacksburg vs Nebraska (first game back as an alumni)

I've been waiting for him to get a shot. I picked him up in fantasy as soon as Randall Cobb went down (mostly because I also had Randall Cobb) and he's been exceeding my expectations ever since, even when I knew he'd be capable of good things once given the chance.

I usually try to avoid picking up Hokies out of homerism since they tend not to do well or otherwise become letdowns (a la DW4 this year, and MV7 about 2/3 of the way through EVERY year). But, he's been given an opportunity to showcase his talents while the rest of the Packers' very deep WR corps gets healed up.

I also have to admit the LSU weekend in I believe it was 02? The whole riot downtown before the game was an experience in and of itself, plus KJ just running all over that LSU defense. That one run where he broke the guys ankles in the backfield was absurd.

I have to say we are about where I thought we would be. It has been an interesting ride. Up and down all season (but mostly up) and it has been exciting so far. I am looking forward to seeing where we end up.

I work and live in Leesburg. Sorry not more creative.

"I'm rooting for him, the guy walked into an imploding situation that needed to be revamped."

I have to disagree, our team last year would have been stacked had it not been for Greenberg being fired. After he was fired Dorian Finney Smith transferred to Florida. Montrezl Harrell dropped his committment and went to Louisville. ESPN recently did a top 25 breakout players for 2013 and both of those guys were on the list (in the top 10). Firing Greenberg was a huge mistake and crushed our chances at fielding a good team last year and continuing this year. Additionally, I feel like we either lost another recruit, but the name slips my mind.

You have to work with what youve got, Foster can play man D with his DB's because he trusts them and coaches them up on certain talents and skills. Other D coaches may focus on a completely different style of play.

Plus you have to change your D up sometimes weekly to match up different types of offense. I mean look at how we played Boston College, We could not Stop that RUN offense even though we were able to stop the GT offense.

Nah, it's good. I probably just watch too much SportsCenter in the fall is all. My head is full of useless stats and information from the last 10 years in CFB.

Here is the procedure for determining an ACC Divisional champ -

"If more than one team in the same division is tied for the best winning percentage in its Conference games then, in order to determine the divisional champion, the procedures listed below will be followed.

A. TWO-TEAM TIE

1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.
2. Winning percentage of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall winning-percentage (divisional and non-divisional), and proceeding though the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last using the leagues tie-breaking procedures.
4. Overall winning percentage versus all common non-divisional opponents.
5. Combined winning percentage versus all non-divisional opponents.
6. Winning percentage versus common non-divisional opponents based upon their order of finish (overall conference winning percentage) and proceeding through other common non-divisional opponents based upon their order of finish within the division.
7. The tied team with the higher ranking in the full Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games. If both tied teams are not ranked in the full Bowl Championship Series Standings, the computer ranking portion of the Standings will be used, eliminating the high and the low computer ranking, and averaging the remaining rankings.
8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw as administered by the Commissioner or Commissioners designee.

B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE
(Three team (or more) tiebreaker procedure will be used to break all ties to identify the Championship game representative. Once a team is eliminated from the tie, the tie-breaking procedures restart for the remaining teams. If the three (or more) team tie can only be reduced to two teams, the two-team tie-breaking procedure will then be applied).

1. Combined head-to-head winning percentage among the tied teams.
2. Winning percentage of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) 4. Conference winning percentage, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last, using the leagues tie-breaking procedures.
5. Combined winning percentage versus all common non-divisional opponents.
6. Combined winning percentage versus all non-divisional opponents.
7. Winning percentage versus common non-divisional opponents based upon their order of finish (overall conference winning percentage) and proceeding through other common non-divisional opponents based upon their divisional order of finish.
8. The tied team with the highest ranking in the full Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the two-team tiebreaking procedure shall be applied between the top two ranked tied teams. If all tied teams are not ranked in the full Bowl Championship Series Standings, the computer ranking portion of the Standings will be used, eliminating the high and the low computer ranking, and averaging the remaining rankings.
9. The representative shall be chosen by a draw as administered by the Commissioner or Commissioners designee.

The current divisional records and remaining games for each team in the ACC Coastal Division is as follows:

Tech: 4-1 (1 remaining in-division game - UVA)
GT: 4-2 (no in-division games remaining - done)
Duke: 2-2 (2 remaining in-division games - Miami and UNC)
Miami: 2-1 (3 remaining in-division games - Duke, Pitt, UVA)
Pitt: 2-2 (2 remaining in-division games - Miami, UNC)
UNC: 1-3 (2 remaining in-division games - Duke, Pitt)
UVA: 0-4 (2 remaining in-division games - Miami, VT)

If we take care of business against Md and UVA, and Duke loses one of their two remaining in-division games, we'll be going to the ACCCG. After the struggles of last season, and breaking in a lot of new coaches and starters, who would have thought this was even a remote possibility?

forgot the geek factor of thread dwellers...
19 has been done many times.
its not like 1-0 which can never happen...geez!

By far and away the Miami game in 2003. Playing at home against the highly ranked hurricanes. Then storming the field after the win. D-Hall's fumble recovery TD and the image of that miami player dropping a sure fire TD was priceless. Plus it was a night game.

From what I'm hearing it sounds like the students are about as optimistic as this as well, seems like there's no one at the game today.

And Hopkins. He's 1/2 Man, 1/2 Bear and 1/2 Pig. It's science.

Well, each of the top 4 teams controls someone else's destiny. Nobody controls their own.

A Duke loss allows us to clinch if we win out.
A GT win allows us to clinch if we win out.
A GT loss allows Duke to clinch if they win out.
A Miami loss coupled with a VT loss allows GT to clinch if they beat Clemson.
A VT loss allows Miami to clinch if they win out.

GT needs VT and Miami to lose.
VT needs GT to win or Duke to lose
Duke needs GT to lose.
Miami needs VT to lose.

And if all 4 lose, that opens up a giant fustercluck that could result in a 5-way tie. Nobody wants that except for Pitt, whose only chance of winning the division is actually a 3-way tie between GT, Miami and Pitt at 5-3, with VT, Duke and UNC at 4-4 (Epic Hokie collapse, I know). In that case, the tiebreaker would fall all the way to #7, BCS Standings. Pitt would need for Miami to be unranked, and for the computer rankings to somehow favor the Panthers, which seems unlikely since Miami is 4-0 OOC and Pitt is 3-1.

UNC has been mathematically eliminated from Charlotte contention. Unless you're talking about the Belk Bowl, in which case you might be right.

People seem to forget the fortitude Duke showed coming back from 22 down against UVA and yeah we gift wrapped a win for them a few weeks ago but they didn't make it easy on themselves either, they just made one more play than we did.

What I'm saying is; if Duke wins out and goes to the ACCCG I will be crushed, but that also means they had one hell of a year and they damn well earned it.

I love watching highlight clips and knowing right away who I'm supposed to be watching by their play. MANBEARPIG is on a different level right now. I hope before this season is over they give in the ball on the goal line and let him score a TD.

I believe if our coaches thought that Leal gave us more opportunity to win then he would be starting. So he's
obviously not the better QB. Our coaches see everything...we only see the games. Next season we will have
all new options. Can't wait to see who wins! But until then LT is our man.

We play in a NCAA Div-1 BCS Conference. Every team we play (particularly in conference) has good athletes and proven high school players. Some are definitely better than others but if you don't play well any given week another team may come up and get you. This whole "trap game" mentality is silly to me. We act so afraid that we're going to screw it all up and come on here and criticize those of us who don't act as worried as some may think we should for teams that admittedly are less talented than us. Sorry if I'm not shaking in my boots during Duke week.

I get it, we've lost games we shouldn't before, sometimes to put a damper on what could have been great seasons. We've even done that this year, but I think it just goes to show how tough playing at this level is and how hard it really is to go undefeated.

This isn't a trap game, guys. We are a well-coached football team that has pretty good talent. We're far from a great or elite team right now though, and that means we could lose to anyone if we don't come ready to play. That's just what this team is so it's not going to surprise me if anyone gives us a game.

Let's all just take a second, breathe, and get ready to enjoy a great football Saturday this week. We may win and we may lose but just enjoy the ride and the fact that we are still playing for a conference championship.

Isn't it ironic that it us being 7-3 this way is actually better for us than losing to Bama, GT, and Miami instead?? If you told me that we'd most likely be heading to the ACCCG this year i'd be very happy. I hope these seniors get to go out like that this year.

But that's a conjectural argument-(and this is the place to have such a discussion.)
It's akin to 'did the dinosaurs die from climate change?' or 'would I have been more successful if my momma hadn't dropped me on my head?'

I agree that the ONLY way to know is to put Leal in and see how he does....
But it ain't gonna happen, (barring injury), because the coaches can't deal with hypotheticals, its all about real world.

So at some level, I have to consider that either the coaches are making the best decision given the options, or they are idiots....I choose the former, others the latter, hence the spirited discussion.
