I am really not trying to pile on the guy, I swear. But this is something that I have always wondered, because I could be completely off...
Was that throw to Coles really *that* good of a throw? He hit his man, it was a big play, the WR caught it...but he had to leap 3 feet into the air to catch it. Was there a reason for that? That's one of the things that It seems like only I notice which makes me wonder if it's just me - it feel at least like he's constantly throwing the ball high to his recievers, often for absolutely no reason. There was some play in the first quarter where he hit a wide open Byrn I think, and it was a fine play that might have even gone for a first down...but it could have been an even bigger play if Byrn didn't have to jump into the air to catch it, allowing the defense time to close and requiring the receiver to re-set himself before running.
Like I said, it could be just me. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed that.
Have you seen our offense? We managed 10 points against a Duke defense that isn't exactly elite, despite our own defense creating 4 TOs.
Do I see their offense racking up points against us? Probably not. They do have a decent running game with Kevin Parks though. It doesn't do any good to "worry" about them with a huge divisional game against Miami coming up and then Maryland at home, but it would be extremely foolish and a HUGE MISTAKE to dismiss the UVA game as an easy win.
I'll happily mail the money to Joe for use on the site. I could care less about it. I'd just rather not have the crappy slogans we've had recently.
One thing I noticed in the F-Word Duke Conundrum was that Edmunds was getting a free release to the flat on a delay block just about every time we dropped back to pass. There were 5-7 yard screen/dump off opportunities on multiple plays versus Duke, looks like we were able to capitalize on some of that with BC. I was unfortunately only able to catch the last quarter due to a confluence of events involving a local affiliate premption of the ABC feed and Time Warner choking on an entire box of rubber dicks.
And what about the $200 that goes to the winning submission?
Malzahn didn't get fired, he got clear of the blast radius and hunkered down at Arkansas State as their head coach, waiting out the inevitable shit storm that was coming to Auburn because of 1) their performance and 2) NCAA blow back from $Cam Newton. It was akin to Pete Carroll or Chip Kelly waking up one day and realizing that they really did want to coach in the NFL afterall after seeing the NCAA plane touchdown at the school airport. Malzahn is no dummy.
this will be the only home game I won't be able to make this season. Had it been a later game, I would have been able to make the trip.

if we eliminated the cross divisional games and just had 2 rotating cross division opponents we could keep the 8 game structure and still play every team at least once in a 4 year span.

I believe Loeffler's cupboard is bare. That is why he must pass and must use LT in the ground game. When it comes time to win games, theory gets pushed aside. And if there is nothing on the shelf, open up LT for the pass and hope he does not throw a pick. Unfortunately, LT is good, but not good enough for this role. And THAT is why we have too many turnovers.

Nice point on the macro -it gets a little out of hand at times (sometimes fun, sometimes somebody goes all "Bama" on something) but all-in-all the discussions are enlightening, interesting; it's great to have this forum for Hokie fans.

Yup. Too lackluster this year to get the night games.
And also note that LSU is the only complete team that Auburn has faced yet. Great turnaround no doubt, but let's be honest on the level of play they've faced. This is not "SEC talent/defense..." fellatio fellatio fellatio ad nausea this year...
Guys, realize that with all of your requests, you're essentially asking Joe to do a shit ton of work for a site that you don't pay for and get premium content from already. Bummer...when I booked flights a few weeks ago, this game had the potential to at least be a 3:30 game. Oh well, just more time for post-game rails I guess.
There's no way anyone actually needs a ticket to attend a UVA game at this point.

That thought occurred to me as well, but I imagine the whole thing will get re-sorted once Louisville comes in anyways. The prior rotation was nice though, as I live in Columbia, SC so having either Duke or UNC away games consistently each year made for a nice away game road trip.
The current arrangement of cross division games is really suboptimal. There are some great teams that we will hardly play in our own conference as it stands now. The ACC really needs to move to a 9 game schedule at least.

I suggest they survey the alumni season ticket holders about some things the students can do better. They're just not as into the games anymore, we've definitely lost some of the Lane Stadium fear factor as a result.
Another general observation - no matter how full (or half full) Lane is the cheering volume that's produced is remarkably consistent. My own theory - the people who get loud never leave a game and the people who are apt to leave aren't really loud if they're there. If we could get all 66k doing something consistently that'd be really impressive.
The cheerleaders need to take a more active role in getting and keeping the crowd fired up. It seems like more and more of the fans don't really know what to do anymore. There should be a deafening "Let's go!" "Hokies!" call and answer cheer anytime the opposing team takes a time out for starters.
Also you need to write in "Stick it in x 3" on that survey.
They probably do. But what they don't tell you is that their D is so weak that most teams never even have to worry about 3rd downs, as the chains have already moved.
