Haven't watched Winston much. Does he throw off his back foot into defenders chest in a tie game in his own zone?

Or try to throw back over the middle in the red zone?

Disagree. I think Malzahn was honestly just trying to make a career move. He won a title by running (arguably) the best offense in the nation (I am of the belief that Chizik really didn't do anything that season other than recruit good players).

Malzahn took a head coaching job (right after the national championship, before the losing season) at a mid-major school knowing if he showed good improvement over the next season or two, he would receive an offer at a BCS school. He left AU before their dreadful losing season. The AU administration realized that Gus was the main reason they won a national title (and Cam too, but Gus really designed an offensive system around his strengths).

All I'm saying is that Malzahn wasn't running from the NCAA or from a bad team. He was simply trying to advance his career. Most coordinators aren't Bud Foster.

LT's 8 turnovers the last two weeks are due to the fact that every play requires him to either throw or run it himself. If he has the ball in his hands 50 times a game; eventually he will make mistakes. And I am well aware all QB's have the ball in their hands every play; but he is literally required to pass or scramble on busted pass plays as well as run the read-option style QB keeper runs (which never work for more than 3 yards).

This offense is terrible. We had first a goal on the 1 and I turned to my wife and said "We might need all 4 plays to make it in". I can't remember another VT team where I thought that. Also, the second week in a row we have had a TD called back due to a penalty. If we can't score, we certainly can't afford to be taking points off the board.

LT is the best option we have; but I hope the next guy in line is a more accurate passer; doubt anyone else can stand up to the running punishment that he takes, so we will definitely need a work-horse RB next season.

I think I missed something...what actually happened with this? I don't remember hearing anything about it.

Obviously dozer would've been top 5 at WORST so I assume someone has screwed him over...which isn't really okay with me.

If I could give two turkey legs for bringing back the real men of genius commercials, I would. Those were so good.

And I don't know who downvoted you, but here's an upvote. You weren't being a jerk at all, stating your opinion in a mature and respectful manner (very rare on the internet) should be commended.

Maybe that's true, but we also might have fumbled because we never go from under center. We don't even try so they're not used to it. Probably makes the QB-center exchange a little awkward.

After four and a half years at one position in the college level, switch him to a new position for the last few games, and help his draft stock?

That would be an incredible performance.

Without an extensive web design background it seems very reasonable as almost every other forum site has it. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Down votes do nothing to established members. I have no problem with opinions. It is the insulting and or offensive posts that I have an issue with.

I wasn't going to say to but I am glad you did.

Quick question Chris, did the previous SGA Director get all 400 dollars worth of 1st place prizes in the coach up hokies contest?

8. Prizes: ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: The opportunity to run on the field with the team prior to the Marshall vs. Virginia Tech football game on September 21 as well as attend a practice on Tuesday prior to the game. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $
FOUR (4) FIRST PRIZES: $100 in 2013 Virginia Tech Nike Sideline apparel. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $100.

Losing Faith, huh....

Why wouldn't Loeffler see that the RBs are way better not in the veer game? Can't he anlayze and see the success he had in the Duke game? That Logan is taking an uneccesary pounding for 2ypc? and that his run game has become way too predictable?......And.... Can you please E-mail him and let him know, LOL...... Apparently, he doesn't or doesn't want to see it himself...

You bring up a great point about the future of the program when you mention Grimes sticking around. Weaver is on the way out, Frank is getting old and our offensive leadership is a giant question mark at this point. We even will have a new President soon which will be responsible for filling vacancies in the athletic department. It is concerning to say the least. We will see significant change in the future for better or for worse.

My experience as a Hokie fan would be enhanced if I didn't have to deal with this week in and week out:

When it is truly a suggestion to improve the user experience, I am sure it will be welcome. This appears to be a transparent attempt to shame those who you disagree with in a passive-aggressive manner, and that runs completely contrary to the spirit of open dialogue that makes this community special.

If you have suggestions, email them to staff. But, I am completely opposed to any functionality which makes threads boxy and more difficult to understand by the exclusion of comments, and therefore losing context.

Thank you for the forum.

They need to be realistic. I'm not sure what your background is in web design or computer programming, but the requests you've made are rather extravagant and would probably slow the site down as it has to go through each user viewing the site, check out their list of ignored posters, and then go through who knows how many posts to remove the ones that are posted by someone who you've said should be ignored. That's a lot of iterations and computations that will take some time. Now should you have experience in this or knowledge of how to do it efficiently without having to rewrite the entire site, I'm sure you could talk to Joe about it. Otherwise, as French suggested, just ignore it and scroll on. The experience on this site is what you make it. If someone posts something offensive, there's the downvote for that. If it's not offensive and just annoys you, let it go.

Normally, yes. I am glad they got a touchdown on the play. But, when BC needed fourth and 1, they lined up and knocked one of the top defenses in the country off the football, when they damn well knew what was coming. That is the attitude I want.

I'd much prefer to see them run the IV play action on 1st and goal, because the staff is confident that if it isn't open, Logan can throw the ball away and then pound the ball in on 2nd down. Using it on 4th down should have been much less of a surprise to the defense.

I don't know if that would hold up. Loeffler has improved the passing attack and LT looks better mechanically, when he's not under pressure, but You'd think that taking some of the load off his shoulders (running it, for instance) would actually make him look better because he wouldn't be put in position to make mistakes while trying to play hero-ball

I can see that, I think. But on repeated viewings I guess it really brings up the "decision making" issue as well, doesn't it? He's got three guys underneath who are all open. Byrn is open on the right hash. Whoever that is on the 20 yd marker is WIDE open and doesn't have a defender within 10 yards of him, and the RB is open in the checkdown.

Logan doesn't even look at them. He stares down Coles the whole time, and throws it to him, even though he is bracketed, which requires a low percentage throw over a defender.

Perhaps Logans turnover numbers are higher than anybody else in FBS because he keeps choosing to make high-risk decisions like this for some reason? Just a thought.

What is your opinion of using that Y-Dump for a 4th down conversion? It seems that we try to get that 1 yard of push and often struggle. I would have to believe that teams are going to sell out to the IV with Logan likely keeping it on 4th and 1 or even 2, so something like this could be open for a big gain even. Agree?
